Saw This On Ebay, Is It A Good Deal For You Guys??

Royal Purple's Purple Ice

Today I picked up my truck from the dealer for work on my lift pump which was covered under warranty. I was under the impression that they would just replace the lp with a new replacement one on the engine. They told me that they put the "new" in tank style in. The dealer told me that this a new and better pump. I am a little worried about this as I only have between 6 and 7 psi going down the road. When i floor it it drops to 3 psi. I called them about this and they told me this is normal as the pump works on volume and not pressure. How many of you out there have had this done and should/ do i need another lift pump closer to the engine or will i be fine? I also had the 0216 code come up again on the CEL. I was told if the CEL doesn't go out over the weekend to bring it back in the first of the week.

0216? Yikes! Don't know much about the in tank LP but I sure like to see higher numbers than you've posted. I like to see a min of 12+. I just replaced mine when it was dropping down to 8 psi FWIW. Just my opinion... . Certainly doesn't make it right for anyone except me... ...

klaybus, I had 12 plus at idle b4 the dealer replaced my LP. Nothing over 9 now. Drops to 3 at WOT. My truck still acts like it did b4 i took it in to the dealer. It bogs down and doesn't move for a few seconds after i press the go pedal. Do you think that it is my VP44?

Dan - This stinks that DC's fix to failed Carter LPs is to install the "new" in-tank POS units. If you are still under warranty they have you by the _ _ _ _s. So what I've heard a few folks do is this. Let them install their POS pump, make sure they answer all your questions on a service report slip. Then when you get codes or your VP fails they should replace it. Once they replace the VP, warranty or not, I'd go with a new delivery system mounted on the inside frame close to your tank and remove the POS from your tank. MHO
