I just wanted to say hello all! I've been browsing this sight for a few years. The whole 5 days got really annoying let me tell ya. So i decided to buy a subscription after I bought my truck. It is as follows.

2002 Dark Blue 2500 HO QC LB NV5600 4. 10 EZ BHAF 4" straight pipe Autometer Cobalt guages

I've had it for about 6 months. MY dad owns a 97 3500 12v, 87 F-350 6. 9, 90 f-250 7. 3.

Now my problem. About 5 months after I bought the truck it decided to kick on its built in high idle feature anywhere from 800 to 1400 idle rpm which I wouldn't mind if it didn't also kick in the intermittent dead pedal feature. That one is kind of a pita. It has also thrown the two APPS codes plus two 1693 codes(one in ECM one in PCM)

My question is would resetting the APPS voltage help? I would think if it was just the idle problem you could but the dead pedal problem makes me think it is fried. You can bypass the dead pedal by using the cruise control.

Either way I guess it really doesn't matter. I've already bought and recieved a new apps. But I though I would ask first before I put the new one on. More for my own information than anything. Hopefully I'll get it put on this weekend.

Thanks a lot for your help guys.

First of all, let me welcome you to the TDR. Fill out your signature for future reference (under your user Control Panel).

Some members have had luck with reseting the APPS, and some have also had luck with cleaning the unit. Unfortuantely, these things just wear out. You can reset the APPS by disconnecting the batteries for a few hours (typically overnight). When you reconnect the batteries, turn the ignition to "on" with out starting the engine. Push the accelerator to the floor and return it.

That is all that is required to reset the unit.

If you were getting the codes I don't think the battery/reset thing would help you out. You can pull the APPS and check the voltage setting on the back of the sensor. You then have to loosen the screws and rotate the sensor while you check voltage at the PCM. some members have had luck re-adjusting this voltage to get more life out of the APPS. Check the APPS thread for more info.

If your APPS is fried would you mind donating it for disection? We're trying to get to the bottom of this APPS thing and need a few duds to examine. Please PM me if you're going to toss this APPS. I'll pay shipping.
