Howdy! I've been wanting to join for awhile, and I figured it was time to sack up and do it. Anyway, I have a 1976 GMC pickup that used to be my dads. He passed away a number of years ago, but I kept the truck for sentimental reasons. Anyhoo, i'm really getting into diesels and I'm getting ready to start my diesel conversion for the truck. After talking with Mark at PDR, I know that I need between a '96 and '98 5. 9 that came out of a truck with a stick. I'm gonna use the cummins flywheel, clutch and specific input shaft for the gm nv4500 that I will be putting in place of my 3 speed. Hoping to have it all done by winter, but we will see. Just wanted to give you all my story, and look for any hints or input on these engines. I just noticed this KDP issue that I had not heard about. Anyway, fill me in and pass along any good info that you have, especially if you've done a cummins swap in a mid-70's GM pickup ;)

Thanks, and I'm glad to finally be on board!

welcome

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

You have come to the right place for knowledge. Every one here is just full of it. :D Knowledge that is.

If you go the 12 valve Engine and Drive train forum and look at the top there is an explaination of the kdp and on how to fix it if it's broke and how to fix it if it ain't broke. I'm sure there are others that are all knowing on how to do a swap. I've heard that there is someone in northern Montana on the east side of the state that does the swaps but I haven't ever heard of his name.

Anywise, glad you joined. You will not regret it and consider the money spent in doing so the best investment that you've ever done.
