Hey all, First off I'm proud to be a new member of this site. I've learned so much in a short time. Lots of intelligent people out here. I'll be heading to the dealership hopefully today to order a 2500. I really love the look of the Sport Package (all black of course), however this will be a plow truck during the snowy New England winters. My question is does anyone have a plow setup w/a sport package. Will the lower valance get in the way of the plow? This has been a struggling decision because the whole reason I need the new truck is because my company needs to update our plow equiptment. I would hate to give up the sport package but work comes first as we all know. Thanks in advance to all for suggestions. I look forward to getting to know you all, I'm sure I'll be needing a lot of advice as I customize this animal!!

Thanks CIverson, that's exactly what I needed to hear, I'm heading to the dealer in about an hour after an exhausting 2 month search for this truck, I'm giving in and ordering it. Now I'll go haggle with them about the $2000 he's off from Dave Smith. I really would like to buy from my local dealer. Bought my '01 gasser from them, very nice people and we've already talked about the lack of them busting my %@!!s with putting a snow plow on this thing without a snow plow prep package which DC does not offer with the Sport Package. Now I'm getting psyched!! :-laf BTW what type of plow are you running?

Does DC even offer the plow package on a Diesel truck? I never looked when I ordered mine because it was a manual... but IIRC it's not offered in Diesel... is that correct?

Not sure about the newer trucks, but my '03 came as a diesel sport and the plow package, which I think was only a transfer case skid plate

I think that it depends on the brand of plow. A friend has a 03 and they cut the hell out of it to put on a Fisher MM.

where are you buying? I have had real good luck with Elmwood Dodge in RI

Oo. Just got back from the dealer Black 2500 CTD w/ Sport Package, sunroof, clearance lights, and a bunch more has been ordered. I was told about 10 weeks delivery time. I can't wait :-laf . I ended up purchasing from Foss Motors in Exeter, NH where I bought my 01 gasser from. Got it for $200 under invoice ($38,500) before 3k worth of rebates. They offered to install a V blade for $4000. Just might take them up on it. They were about $1000 higher than Dave Smith in Idaho, I just couldn't justify driving 3000 miles to save a grand. Besides if I have a problem with this thing, this is where it would go, especially w/ putting the snow plow on without the prep package I know they'll take care of me. I appreciate all that chimed in here and look forward to talking with you all. I need to start picking out my aftermarket toys for this thing. :D

Glad you ordered it the way you wanted. Just wondering why you didn't order a 3500?

i believe you can not order any more 05 trucks as of 4/14/05 that was the cut off for them good luck mine got ordered on 4/4/05

Does anyone know what a t-case skid plate has to do with a snow plow? There is no mention of uprated trans coolers, heavier front springs, etc. Things that one would typically expect in a plow package.

I guess our trucks are built well enough so they don't need the uprgades! :D

Just an update, I got the build sheet 2 days later faxed to me, because I wanted to recheck all my options before the order went to DC. Found that my Sport Package was missing? :--) . Called my dealer back and he researched the problem and found that the Thunder Road package kicked out my Sport package? This prob. only happens on a 25/3500 according to the dealer. Went back the next night to go over the build sheet. We had to break apart the Thunder Road (tow package, leather steering wheel, and sliding rear window). Now the build was right but the price increased by $800. :-{} They agreed to absorb $500 of the $800 additional cost since we had already agreed on a price. I took a night to think about it and signed Weds. Night. After comparing to the big dealership in Idaho (who gave me a great price and were wonderful to deal with) Foss Motors in Exeter NH was able to beat them by about $700 :-laf . I feel I was treated very fairly by both companies and want to thank the people from this site for the knowledge I've acquired in making my deal on this truck

Responses to others questions, comments (sorry I screwed this post up)

'05 ordering ends on May 11th (recently extended) manuals on hold right now, at least that is what I was told

I didn't order the 3500 because base price jumped a couple of grand as soon as we started to build it?? The only difference is the overload springs, I don't get it?

Snow plow prep still nothing more than a skid plate!! According to what I've been told by many, we already have the heaviest front springs from DC with the Cummins, I'm probably misinformend? Please someone correct me if they know different.
