Hello everyone. I'm a new member here and also new to the diesel scene since my recent purchase of a 1993 D350 LE Xtra Cab Dually. It's a great truck already but I have plans for a few upgrades in the near future so maybe you guys can help me out with some advice when the time comes. Until then, I've attached a picture of my truck as it is now. Are there any threads that are a "must-read" for a new 1st gen owner or a new diesel owner in general? Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

Remember to have fun. Address the safety items first like brakes/ball joints/tie rods etc. You don't have to blow tons of black smoke and operate at 45/50 psi boost 444 HP to have fun. Some of us have forgotten that, me included.

Just enjoy a rock solid rig and get hooked up with some locals.

Welcome aboard!! You bought the right brand for a first timer, that cummins with some TLC will last many miles. You will find that the fuel screw is just enough on the power enhancement, worked for me... check the frame around the steering box for cracks, check the rear end axle bearings and carrier bearings, ask lots of questions they will be answered

Thank you. Checking the rear hub/axle bearings was actually on my list of things to do soon. The carrier bearings have already been checked for play. All seems tight within the rear housing. I'm assuming these are both common areas that go bad on these trucks? I've owned and still own plenty of Dodges but not a diesel until this one. I've had plenty of experiences involving rear ends blowing up with 1/2 ton Dodge's and Chrysler 9. 25 rears. :-laf The dana 70 must have a much better record in comparison?

Thank you. I've already done as you said and checked the truck over for safety related items. The truck had brand new brakes front and rear when I bought it including new rotors, drums, and calipers. Theres only one small section of brake line out back that is questionable in my mind and I will replace very soon. I also had to replace the center link and I've noticed that the steering box has a bit' of play in it. :)

Cool Ride

She looks nice, good luck and welcome. This weekend I messed with the smoke screw, fuel pin diaphram and power screw. It made a nice difference, now to see how bad the fuel economy becomes. Any assistance, just ask.
