Well I went to Missouri on vacation just two weeks ago and bought an 89 2WD 3/4 ton reg. cab.

This is in addition to the 2002 I have now.

The truck is in good shape bodywise and mechanically sound too.

Took it for a test drive and runs good a little black smoke when mashing down on it tho around 45 mph. I believe it is stock from the looks of it.

Auto trannny I'm assuming is a 727. I've owned two 24 valvers 2001 & 2002, a 12 valve 95 and now the 89. This is my first first gen. truck and look forward to tinkering with it when I haul it back to Virginia in August.

Just wanted to say Hello ;)

Howdy Partner!!

Nice to have ya. I've been looking at a 2001 regular cab. Have several here at the school and really love 'em [24 valver] Just sound strong. I don't mind the lift pump, just listen for it when starting and how it acts when I replace the filter. Why pay $560 per month for a 96 CTD w/148,000 miles when I can get a 2001 w/43,000 miles for under 350 per month???

I'm keepen my '92! I simply can't believe what a great truck it's been for me even at 170K miles. Nothing I don't like about it:D

Keep it between the ditches

Welcome to the land of the first gen!! They me be old, a little funny looking (not to me), but they sure are fun!!! Hey I agree, my 93 can do anything a late model can, except make me mail out $600 checks every month!!!:D :D :D

Have fun with it!!

My new rig

I was surprised when I started it and took it out for a spin. The engine sounded much quieter than the one in my '02 truck.

I always thought them to be noisier:confused:

I guess that's a good thing?

When I finally get it home I'll do a thorough check from front to rear and change all the fluids and filters. I see Genos sells the first gen. filters. That's where I will buy them.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the first generation forums;)

Yes, it is quieter. The 24 valvers are a bit noisier. I would like to know why. I'm not complaining though, I like the noise!!!. I have eight ISB's [I think] here at the school.

BTW, I obtain all my truck filters through NAPA, by way of my school. Saves me $$$ and they have everything in stock. All my fleet filters [for 27 busses] are obtained from NAPA. The local heavy truck dealer has Baldwin and Fleetguard but have yet to purchase from them. Fleetguard is preffered by some as it's a cummins item.

NAPA also carries the BHAF, in stock.
