Hello,

I finally ponied up and joined TDR! This is a great site. I just bought my third CTD. It's and '05 QC 2500 4x4 48RE. After returning from my first tow of approx 8K lbs, I noticed 2 things.

1) I has a vibration during acceleration from about 58-63MPH. It's not bad, but can be felt in the steering wheel and skinny pedal.

2) Looking at the rear 11 1/2 diff, I can see small spots of rust that looks like splash stains on the front and back of the cover. I know DC didn't paint the drivelines, but the diff was painted. Has anyone seen this? I had about 750 miles on the clock before the trip from San Jose to Tahoe. If this normal, or does it sound like the rear overheated?

Thanks.

Let me be the first to welcome you. As a lurker for years turned newbee this month I've already gotten my $35 worth of info and entertainment. (see comp forum :-laf )

1. On my stock rubber I had a similar vibe around 68-72. Not really enough to bother me. I think it was related to the 2150rpm drone zone of the engine?? (3. 73 gears) Switched to bigger rubber and moved the vibe up a notch. Not enough to notice for anyone not driving but just a little hum in the wheel and pedal. I've just chalked it up to my hummin cummins. :)

I was going to try a one of the '05 steering hose clamps to see if that helped. You've already got that.

As for the rust spots... . I'm stumped. I wouldn't worry too much if its just rusty water. Maybe it got spun off the driveshaft or other unpainted component.

Enough of my dribble. Welcome friend.
