Hello,

Just registered but I have been reading here for a bit and the threads have been of great help. Thank you.

I have had little to no experience with Diesels other then I drove an 80's model CCV International for work. That CCV was quite the uncomfortable beast compared to my New 2012 Dodge 3500. The threads here have been a lot of help with the in and out's of my new truck, so thank you.

I've wanted a Diesel for years and I decided to finally do it wanting to avoid the DEF fluid and the new emission requirements. I had read the specs on the new 2013 but I wanted to keep it a bit simpler and avoid the new stuff especially since you never know what issues you may run in to with a new model.

I plan on either getting a cab over or a camper trailer to pull. I was going to just go with a 2500 but after driving both the 2500 and 3500 I could tell a difference in the ride and they were both smoother then my 06 Dodge 1500. The difference in price was also minimal so I figured why not go with the 3500 just so I have the extra towing capacity should I ever need it.

After reading some threads here I ordered some Weathertech floor mats front and back. I also had a spray in bed liner installed and I bought a Dee Zee bed mat, over kill I know but I carry around steel targets ranging from 10 to 75lbs and they did quite a number on my spray in liner that was in my 1500. I also ordered a dash mat and the Mopar Bug Deflector, not sure if they help but I figured why not anything to protect my new baby.

Any suggestions for seat covers? I had the Mopar's in my 1500 and I didn't care much for them. I'd like something that fits well and closely resembles the current seat upholstery.

So far no surprises thanks to everyone here. Gas is about on par with what everyone has stated, 14 city, and 17 highway going up slightly in elevation.

Thanks again and here's my new truck:

As a point of information, there are no new emission requirements coming down. Emissions are basically at zero now. The new requirements are GHG reductions, or CO2 reductions. That is government speak for fuel economy improvements. The use of DEF and the front axle disconnect will help to achieve that goal.
