i get my diesel from the lowes station on 4th and griegos religiously, there is a very high turnover on fuel there, and it is consistantly lower than loves as well as everywhere else that i see. i think right now it is at 2. 04.

Talked to the guy today and the off road expo is from 10-3 so if you show up a three you'll miss it totally. Hope to see some of yall. Look for the 110 and the red line-x dodge.

Am in the middle of guage installation... . I spent the day today running wire/tubing through the firewall. I am planning on putting the isolator in a T in the fuel line between the TP and the water separator/filter. The best I can tell this is where the measurement should be made. The plan is to drill the exhaust manifold next after getting the FP installed and the lighting connected. Boost is on hold as DM sent me a white faced boost guage instead of the black faced one to match the other two.

Diesel is $2. 17 here today. :-{}

I am getting ready to start my gauge install too. I bought an ATS manifold from Joe Donnelly and drilled and tapped it. I will install it before the gauges. I found drilling the manifold much easier than I expected. It tapped well too. Doing it off the engine I didn't have to worry about problems with drill and tap cuttings. I'm not doing fuel pressure so don't have any advice or info on that.

Funny about DM sending you the wrong gauge. They sent me two wrong gauges. I wouldn't be surprised if they mixed up our orders. Anyhow, they made it right by sending out the right parts immediately and sent me a pre-paid UPS shipping label so I could send the old gauges back! That's a lot better response than some vendors.

I don't look forward to tapping into power wires for the gauges and lighting. Have you searched all the info on TDR about installing gauges? There's alot available. I think some of the instructions will be very useful, especially for locating the right wiring under the dash without doing the trial and error method.

Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

yeah I'll be at the off road expo. Look for a defender 110 on 42" and portal axles. Might also have the unimog out and probably a blue and silver bronco with a full cage. We'll probably get there around 11 or 11:30. I think it actually starts at 10ish. That's what my buddy involved in the club said. Who knows though maybe I'll see yall.

How did the offroad expo go? Would have liked to go. A friend and I trailered our rigs down to Socorro for some wheeling and ended up running into some NMTORC, and Virtaul Jeep Club members doing a little rock crawling. Turned out to be a great day.

Was the first time I hauled 2 jeeps on my 22 foot goose neck. I love my CTD. It's a towing machine. My friend towed his stripped down Blazer on a new 18 ft bumper pull with his CTD 600 6-speed. We were dusting people pretty good on the highway. Having towed things for years with 1/2 ton Fords, I am still in awe of the towing capability of these Dodges.

the offroad expo was SWEET!!! i got some good video, the rockcrawlers put on one hell of a show! i got some good video, the best was of tanner tearin **** up with his d 110, that is one serious rig, sorry to say i didnt catch his best run over the cars, but it was beyond impressive! send me some email addresses and i will disburse.

The lighting was actually very easy. I got a device called "Add a Circuit" from Auto Zone. I did a search and here is a picture. I paid about $7 for it.

http://www.uptimebot.com/Store/Tools/littelfuse-addacircuit-fuseholder.html The dash lights are marked "Illum" on my panel on the side of my dash. It is a 5 amp mini fuse. The guage lights dimm with the dash lights. Bad news is that my FP guage is reading "0". Got it hooked up as I was running out of light so don't have time to troubleshoot tonight. Will attack that tomorrow along with drilling the exhaust manifold for the Pyro.

Wolf, Thanks I will pick up an Add a Circuit too. Hey NMTDR guys, check out some new photos in my album. Let me know what you think of the CTD "rumble bee" stripes. I can't decide if I really like it or not. Tried to post a photo here but gave up. . Got to get a new faster computer before I scream and the wife hauls me away!

VERY NICE! i have a lil plan in my head that includes some rumble bee stripes, but it is going to go along with some other mods, that silver goes nice with that rig!

Finally! Not a great pic too much glare. but it should give you the idea

This is a long shot, but I don't know too many other "warren strongs" in the world from Belen. . Were / are you a member of the Route 66 rodders. . ??? Wife's name Shelley. . ? (I think!)

Warren, that adds personality to your rig, I like it.

Install of the pyro went easy and fast. Drilled a pilot hole "almost" until it went through. I thought it would be better to keep the hole closed as long as possible to maybe keep the shavings out of the manifold as long as possible. Drilled the 7/16 hole quite easily and followed with the 1/4 NPT tap using WD-40 frequently to clean the tap and lubricate it. I used a screw retriever magnet to capture any shavings that went into the manifold. There really was not that much in there. The "shavings" were not very big. I was able to reach into the manifold nicely with the telescoping magnet. The thermister went in nicely and I already had the wires run through the firewall so connection went easily. I already had ignition +/- available on terminals on the firewall so the wiring was done in 10 minutes. (ignition terminals are on my battery isolator unit). I started the truck and let it idle for about 10 minutes. Now the task is to identify why I am not getting a FP reading. More later.

Hello gents,

When I wired up my gages, I used a single tap for the power off the light switch (used a T tap but that's only until I can solder in a permanent connection). I made a harness that allows me to plug/unplug each gage independently. I put the harness under the cover at the end of the dash (where the 2nd gen fuse block is?) so I can get to it pretty easily. Probably more work than I needed, but I like a clean install. I also like being able to disconnect any gage when necessary. I had all my wiring done before I installed the gages.

Warren, I'll be looking for you. Like the stripes - no place for them on my truck. I saw a black dually once with stripes ahead of the rear fenders - it looked sharp.

Juan

A 12 cc syringe purged a little air from my FP line and viola, 14 psi @ idle. The lowest I can get the pressure is about 11 psi. Wayne, I heard back from DM this afternoon and they are sending me the correct boost guage with a return label. Waiting now to finish the guage install.

Juan, I did the same with my lighting wires, soldering gun is the only way to do wiring IMHO. I read about the add-a-circuit last week on another post detailing guage lighting. I is really nice because it still provides the same fused protection for the circuit you insert it into plus it has a second fuse block and pigtail for a new circuit. This saved splicing into the wires. Made the lighting install easy with the added bonus of a fused guage lighting circuit.

Yeah, that's us! I thought I noticed once that you signed off using your name... Linc isn't it?

We faded away from the Route 66 Rodders a few years ago. Still in contact with several friends from the club. Still a gear head but there's so much more out there than pre-49 cars, sitting in lawn chairs and b*tching. :-laf How 'bout yourself? Still messing with old cars/hotrods? I can see you are afflicted with ACD (adult Cummins disorder!)

Hopefully we can catch up at a NMTDR function soon

Hey thanks for the feedback on the stripes. I like them too. Too bad I hosed the application. Got a few wrinkles, air bubbles, and foreign objects caught underneath. Oh well, I'll do better on the other side. Maybe warmer weather will help too.

sure do appreciate the info on installing gauges. I'm sure you all saved me lots of pain and anguish.

Juan, give a call when you are in the neighborhood.

You got it. . ! Yeah - the last event I think we attended was the run to copper country in either 2001 or 2002. . We have a baby girl now (yay!) who's has been keeping us busy, but I had dropped out of the rodder scene before that. . I know *exactly* what you mean about the frustration with lawn chair hot rodders. . I can take it for about 15 minutes or so myself. . I still keep in close touch with Otto, who has to be one of the BIGGEST proponents of driving your toys. . He had a lot of heartburn with the lawn chair hot rodder mentality, too. . (among other things!) :-laf I sold my '59 Bel Air a couple months ago & picked up a '31 rat rod to play with instead. . I love it. . Can't wait to paint it satin bubble gum pink for Ryenne's ("ryan")16th birthday. . I still have about 14 years by my calculations. . We built a house in Rio Rancho with - FINALLY! - a decent garage (12 ft ceilings, 1350 sq ft. ) just before Ryenne got here - I haven't fired my torch since moving in... :(

You use that mighty CTD to pull that *little bitty* trailer you guys had in Silver City. . ?? ;)

I know, Joe. If we keep this up, people in the other states might start to think we actually like our trucks!
