I didnt use the bulb condoms, I went to checker and bought colored replacement bulbs. The color is more drastic.

I think I will probably do that too Jeff, I tried the green first and decided my dash must have blue, then changed to the blue condom and it still looks white. go figure

yea the temps just peaked there, but i was workin it pretty hard so it was expected, i have been in sand and the transmission has stayed pretty cool.

Actually, I was in the red truck. I was at the light heading southbound and you turned right in front of me. I didnt wave at first because I didnt think you had tow mirrors, but then I noticed it was you.

I would say with your thermo installed pre-turbo, let off at like 1350-1400* or so. that would be peak. I think sustained max should be like 1250* or so. My grandpas 02 auto has hit 275 degrees, towing up a long hill in colo, in 2nd gear. I think 270 is when the factory trans temp light comes on. but with yours having 2nd gear lockup, that shouldnt be a prob.

I almost had to call you yesterday Luis, we slid the ford and a 15,000lb trailer off the side of a ditch. It took my yellow truck/winch, the orange truck/winch and the red truck to get it out. it was fun!!! I got to smoke all 4 tires on the red truck on the pavement!

Need some input. Just bought an 95 12v. 63000 miles. Runs great. Problem is after driving it and shutting it off for approx 1. 5-2hrs, takes it 2-3 times of cranking to fire up. If it only sets say 30min it doesn't seem to be a problem. I was wondering if these have the same type of heater grid as my 01 does and could this be the problem.

Thanks ahead for any help, Butch

Well, I'm embarrased that I didn't see you pwerwagn. Your truck doesn't exactly blend in with the scenery. I was concentrating on driving, and watching gauges. Yeah the truck has tow package, I assume tow mirrors are part of that. I wouldn't have bought one without all the tow goodies since towing is what I bought it for.

I like the dash-top pod for gauges because you don't really have to look away to check on them.

Luis, glad to hear that you don't see big trans temps running in deep sand. Let's go to the lake!

hey buddy be careful watching those guages, i almost killed myself along with about 20 people doin that! so there i was just installed my guages, went to the freeway west, bout 95-100 mph, *800, 160 trans, and 29 psi, i peaked nine mile hill and suprise suprise the traffic was stopped!! :--) wooo that was pucker factor 8 for sure! well nobody died, and im ready for the lake!!!!!!

Well, since nobody died... That's funny! I hate that pucker factor thing. I've had to ditch it off to the side several times to avoid plowing someone. Usually doing something other than driving (like reading owners manual) then look up and OH :--) traffic stopped!

Now that you mention it, that's a good pole question. How fast have you driven your CTD? I think 90 is as fast as I've done. It comes on so fast, then sure enough... . traffic. The fastest I ever drove it was to prove a futile point to some A-hole idiot on my rear bumper. He tried to stay with me but couldn't get the job done. Stupid bicyclist!! :D

Probably not! Although it's much easier to stay out of trouble here than in Vegas. Have a good trip and remember, "what happens in Vegas... " :D

Can you guys behave yourselves while I'm in Vegas next week at the Mopars at the Strip show/drag/dyno?

No faith or what??? :-laf

I've done 106. 4 on the GPS. Uphill. No pucker factor, though.

I did do like 95 once down eubank next to Luis and a van pulled out in front of me, I would have given it a 7. 5.

I learned yesterday that Luis doesnt go to "our" lake. He goes to Conchas. Traiter. You dont know what your missin. I would have pulled you out for free, to. ;)

-Jeff

stupid bicyclist, thats funny!! yea i am up for any lake trip pretty much anywhere. i wont be in iraq this year so bring on the lakes and the beers! and since we are on the subject a galant raced me on the freeway ummm this morning at about 0100, i was at 110 on the speedo (uncorrected), and stayed there for a while, felt a lil light, but pulled strong!

Well we just ran into a deal with transferflow. If anyone is interrested in getting a transferflow system drop me a PM let me know what you want and I'll give you a price that you'll probably be surprised about.

-ben

I would like a transfer flow, but cant due to the camper. :(

Luis, if your truck originally had 245's on it, that means at an indicated speed of 110, you were acutally running 124! Is that all you got? :-laf

We are prolly heading to the lake friday evening and staying sat. I'll give you guys an update on the condition. I finally found a PTO box for the yellow truck so I can put the PTO winch on it for the lake.

-Jeff

sweet!! 124! nice, i thought i was going to die for sure that time! specially that turn! i am headed up to red river this weekend, but the lake is calling my name! hey argo, that truck almost smokes as good as mine!! good job!

Hey we are heading to the lake on Friday morning. Probly camp around hot springs landing, or over by lions beach. We'll keep an eye out for you. I won't have the jeep cause it's down for a conversion back to hyrdraulic clutch. But the Dodge and the 5th wheel will be there somewhere. Probly do a bon fire friday and or Saturday.

yeahhhhhhhh!

BTW, Luis knows of another lake? I thought there was only one! :-laf

Members rig Spotted!

Hey I spotted JRMora today down in Belen, headed for I-25. Didn't realize it was you Juan until you waved. It just thought it was another nice 1-ton. I like the big C decal on the rear window.

Jeff if you guys want to see a storage unit this weekend, call my cell. I'll pm you with the number.

Yup, that was me. I saw your stripes at the last second (they look good) - that's how I knew it was you. I almost turned around, but I was already late for home!

Too many toys, too little time. Sorry guys, but my kids are using up all the toy money! I need to finish my backyard over the next couple of weeks, anyway. I have a large tree on order and need to make a hole for it to go into!

Have fun at "The Lake". Of course, I've been hanging around the Chesapeake bay, Lake Michigan, and Lake Erie so you'll have to excuse me when I say "The Lake" is just a puny little watering hole. Better than Conchas, though (Sorry Luis!)

Juan

Yep... . It's a mud hole in the desert, that's all it is..... but it's OUR mudhole. The Butte has a charm that's hard to define. You either love it or hate it. My work friends don't get it. "isn't it hot? sandy? crowded? small? whine whine. " I just say yeah you're right you should stay away! Juan, if you are a laker you already know all this. I haven't heard you say if you have a boat or jet skis etc. If you do, we'll be lookin for you this summer.

The people who really love the lake are a great bunch of folks. We help each other out, clean the place up, take care of things, tow out doofuses (or is it doofi?) who get stuck in their ricers and Explorers that won't engage 4x4. It's the once-a-year crowd that really suck. They leave a mess, and do stupid stuff.

I travel a lot too, and marvel at the water that some people have to play in. They probably don't appreciate what they have. All that water sometimes comes with a down side. I spend lotsa time in Tennessee. Great state, water everywhere, but it's always the color of strong tea or coffee from all the organic matter. Lake Michigan etc. Now that's just scary big water. My 22 footer would be a fly spec.

I'll quit rambling on about boating... this is a Diesel truck site right?
