I'll look for ya. Prolly be in a 97 ford 4-door (maroon/silver) with a 27' layton. I think were camping at lost canyon.

I'm jealous about you guys going to the lake. BUT I am also Xcited as camping season is near. We are planning a big trip to Denver April 19th. That means pulling the fiver over Wolf Creek (hoping for good weather) and across south park (I'll keep my eyes open for Cartman). We are staying on the foothills side of Golden for 4 nights. Main interest of the trip is the night of the 20th we are at the U2 show. (YEA BABY!!!!). Savin' some time and space for some good 'ol R&R..... A well needed vacation AND this will be the first time pullin' with guages to see what CTD is sayin'. Warren, I took my truck for a cruise the other day the see what she does at highway speeds and mainly to make sure nothing wierd will happen while travelling. I've only had it basically idling around town since I put the drill to it. EGT's were mainly about 700* going to Durango up La Platta highway, about 2000 ft. climb over about 60 miles. Coming home it averaged about 600*. Average speed was about 70mph. Oo.

Well the lake is doing great! The weather ssuuuuuucccccckkkkkkeeeedddd on saturday, but as usual Sunday was beautiful. It was so nice Today that I went ahead and launched the boat. It's so cool to cruise the lake when it's glass smooth. Sometimes a little chop a small wakes make for a smooth rocking ride too. Depth finder said water is 70+ feet deep over by the dam. Last fall the deepest spot I found was about 45 feet.

This was the first run towing with gauges. Took the 5th wheel and will probably leave it at the storage lot for the rest of the summer.

I observed the following conditions. Sounds like things are working real well.

Flat ground, not towing: 75 mph, 2000 RPM, 600F EGT, 9 lbs boost, 140F trans temp

Towing 9500 lbs: 65 -70 mph, 1700-1800 RPM, 850F EGT, 900 uphills, 10 lbs boost, 20 lbs uphill, 150 trans temp.

Trans temp stays low even 4 wheeling in sand. Spikes to 170 idling in park. Fluid shear?

yea that transmission temp thing kinda confuses me, there are times where it seems mine should be high and it is barely off the 140, then there are times where it suprises me and out of the blue is like 170-180. dunno, but fourwheeling, it has come all the way up to 210-220, but that is the highest i have had it. we were doing alot of mountain passes and winding, climbing, descending in northern nm and my temps liked to stay around *800. man that holey scotty II sounded like it was going to suck the lil lady in the passenger seat through the vents!

Yup, the weather was so bad saturday, we left at like 11:00. We couldnt stay sunday anyways, so we figured we wont waste sat too. It was up quite a bit though. I was surprised. Seemed better than the usbr website says. My bro-in law got stuck in his ford. :-laf Then he had a flat on the way home. It was still nice, though.

So your Scotty is loud, huh Luis? To loud? nevermind, dont answer that. dont think its possible.

time to defibrillate the forum????

hey guys, i see this forum has stalled a lil bit so here we go, hell no the scotty isnt too loud, i love it, especially when i bark the turbo! i know its bad but it sounds really cool. well for some reason everyone likes to race me on the way home from my outings at 0200, this morning there was a guy in a brand new stickers still in the side windows powerjoke on the freeway, and i passed him, well i guess he didnt like that so he caught up and passed me back, poor guy he has probly already returned the truck because i just left him in my dust! well as i was enjoying my personal satisfaction, i noticed that this little jap crap car was passing me  (~100mph) so i nailed it, but had a hard time catching up, and that thing was a piece of crap!!!! :{ i also on the way back from red river this weekend, some of my buddies managed to eat my lunch in a maxima and escalade  time for a comp box... joe d??

A Maxima?? :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

I could see maybe an escalade, but a maxima!!!! :-laf

Poor guy. yup, i'd say you need a comp. and a turbo. and a transmission. and some injectors. and a... . :-laf

My latest kill was a D-max with a edge comp on 3, and a 5. 3 chevy.

Your cuz tried to race me the other day in his rex/white psd, but there was traffic on the f-way. Is that thing fast?

the maxima barely beat me!! tell me about all the mods i need i wish i could do the transmission because then i could do those mods, i am really considering that comp box. i whooped a dmax the other day too. as for my cuz, i think it is pretty fast, but i am not too sure about how fast i havent ridden in it for a while. you could probly run him.

I don't think my truck will spank too many people in a drag race, but I did do some 4-wheeling with a couple of PSDs this past weekend. We were climbing some mild sandy hills. . both of the PSDs were wheel hopin' so bad they had to let off and roll back. :D All the shakin scared one of their dogs so bad she bailed out of the back. The Dodge just climbed up without all the commotion. Sounded cool doin it too.

I want to do more power upgrades but am afraid of toasting the slush box.

BTW pwerwagn, theres a thread that started out discussing the 48RE problems with taking off uphill with a heavy load. Anyway it digressed to discussion of using 4x4 on hard dry surfaces. One guy is just rabid about how you will bind up the driveline and snap off important parts even driving perfectly straight. I wonder what he would think of one of your 4x4 drag strip launches? :-laf :-laf

I'll go post my experiences in there. I've actually driven home from the lake in 4 wheel at 80mph in the yellow truck, Ive towed a 10,000 lb trailer in 4-wheel low in the yellow truck, no prob. :) I wouldnt endorse it, but I've done it.

Jeff, do you have any kind of "local" informational page composed (html would be nice) with member demographic info? It might be appropriate to formulate an email questionaire to gather requested information. This way the person could respond with info that they OK with sharing. I would like to know where people are from, maybe vehicle info and/or other general information about them, hobbies, interests (in addition to the fuel fettish). This could be a member roster of sorts. Some may not wish to provide some of this information and that would be fine too.

I'm about to add a topic somewhere that I am hoping will get great interest. I've been reading about Bio-diesel and I'm ready to build a still and cook man! I'll create another post with some links I have been reading. $150 cost with a used hotwater heater. Plans and everything. $0. 70/gal cost. yea baby!!

Oo.

yea i am with wagn on the 4x4 issue, believe me i have done some nasty things to the 4x4 system on some of my rigs, including traveling at 80some miles an hour. i did it on accident for a while in the cummins. :--) i only went about 5 miles thank god! using 4x4 on hard dry surface is not good, but if you use it to pull a trailer up a hill or something you should be fine, there is the extra stress, but as long as you dont turn real sharp or jerk it it should be able to hold up. when you get to tight turning applying torque situations or hard jerks, things like to break. my brother and i are working on the wall of shame for all of the broken parts we have had, i will let you know when its up to speed. there have been comments aimed at me such as, you could break a crow bar trying to crack an egg, or the time i was busted in the mountains and my bro went to the dealership to bring me a centerlink. the parts guys said "you cant break that its gotta be something else" my bro simply said "you dont know my brother" :-laf kinda proud bout that one! i will see if i can shrink one of my toy wheelin pics, i cant figger out how to make it smaller here at work

Yes Jeff, I have a database of sorts. Has location if they provided it, as well as truck info. I do not have a member page thing, Im not that computer proficient and wouldnt know the first thing about starting a page. I do know HTML and Java, but wouldnt have a clue about how to put it on the net.

I have a "bench of shame" instead of a wall. Some items on the bench I can think of:

An unbreakable 14-bolt Detroit locker, broken in half:D . 7 warn hubs. 3 1350 yokes. 6 d-44 axle shafts. d-60 pinion broken in half. Auburn LS side/spider gears. and the list goes on and on. Isnt breaking stuff cool luis?? I remember once back when Luis and I were in high school, we used to wheel at "Pot Hill" in Los Lunas. I was usually there in either my mitsu or the power wagon, and him in his scout. Once I think we were having a grudge match of some sort and he pretzled his front driveshaft over a hill. It was great.

hell yea! i had some good times on that hill! when i twisted my rear driveshaft i was pretty proud! that one was at southwest 4x4 until they closed, it looked pretty cool. i have shafts, straight and ifs, numerous carriers, and the diff out of one of my latest ifs chunks looks like it is from arkansas with all the missing teeth, and the way the spiders went looks crazy! hmmm what else... oh that "unbreakable" centerlink. i think i still have the 11 inches i bobbed off my toyota bed! mario has a bunch too!

Yea, now when I go there, its like "how did this used to be fun?" the hills are small!!! I remember wheelin there with the 14bolt and d-44 in the bed of the mitsu and just literally trashin the inside of the bed.

I also remember doing some donuts for like 3 minutes straight and when I stopped the cop was standing right there with a pair of handcuffs  . Lucky to get out of that one.

you wanna help me bob the bed on my 77 dodge? Its gonna be the lake truck. with 49" IROK's. eventually.

anytime i get a chance to cut some **** up i am in!! let me know when you want to bob the bed it really isnt that hard, i am talking mario into doin the scout, and possibly a dove tail as well, but we may have to redesign the cage a lil for that one!! speaking of i have been looking for a big monster garage sticker for our shop if you know where to get one let me know! for you other guys, i was just at lunch with some girl from work and wagn showed up, well of course we started talking about our trucks and the testosterone came out, then after he left she said, only boys from los lunas would wanna race big ol diesel trucks!

Well I've done it!! I have a full tank of B20. Kinda fruity smell. Will keep ya posted.

heck ya, keep me posted. . 70$ a gallon is pretty attractive right now! How bout you make it and deliver it and I will give you $1. 00 a gallon!!! :-laf

You did tell her were not boys, but men right? :-laf Men race diesels, boys race imports.

Yeah, the lake truck is getting shaggys 8" monster rear suspension, so after that (they are 67" long deaver leaves) I will know where the rear shackle will be and I am bobbing it to the absolute shortest point. Im thinking about 8-10 inches will be max with that long of spring. I dont care how it looks when done, it is getting Durabak'd in orange, yellow and black, so you wont see the rust and dents! I am in pursuit of a dana 70 front for it right now from savoies. we may trade some parts for it.

well when it comes to bobbing it as short as it will go, we can go beyond the shackle and just put some big casters next to the shackles, kinda like a rock crawling wheelie bar!!! bring it on over to the monster garage one of these days and we will do it up! i miss rockcrawling :{ anybody know anybody wanting to get rid of a 79-85 toyota 4x4? any condition is fine because its only going to get worse :-laf
