This is how I have set it up. When the truck ignition is on, truck batteries, AUX battery and trailer harness are connected. When truck ignition is off, the AUX and trailer harness are still connected to each other but not connected to the truck batteries. I cut the original truck hot wire by the trailer harness, have it taped off, and connected the 8 guage wire from the isolator to the harness. The dealer said if I remove the fuse marked trailer from the fuse block the wire will be dead. Well it does kill it but it also breaks my trailer brake. When I replaced the fuse, trailer brake is working again. Potential problem being the wire is hot and could potentially short if works loose. Just would feel more comfortable if I could break the connection to the original truck wire after the fuse block (I guess) so the wire isn't hot at the back of the truck anymore.

Member's rig spotted! I saw Chuck Peoples' 3500 QC at Auge's today. I guess we were both getting trucks serviced. I had them do my 30K mile trans service. All looked good, no big chunks or anything.

Going on a trail ride tomorrow up to the top of North Baldy, west of Socorro.

I understand that completley. that is how I have mine to, basically. Just put a fuse as far towards the isolator, as you can. If you wanna kill it, pull the fuse. Or heck, dont pull the fuse and if it does short, it will pop the fuse. FWIW, mine is hot all the time, whether the key is on or not, and I have never had any problems. I have a 30 amp fuse about 4" from the battery, its also never shorted. (my brake controller fuse has once, though) and mine is also 8-gauge straight from the battery to the plug. Actually 2-plugs (1 on the bumper, 1 in the bed for the camper).

I had a pretty "intersting" weekend. I had to go get our forklift from belen (its always been down there) to use at home to hoist the gooseneck part of the trailer Im building up. Well, I didnt realize that the forklift is almost 17' tall when on the trailer! Plus, it weighs about 14,000lbs. so, it doesnt clear powerlines!!! We ended up taking back roads to avoid the powerlines, but still had some run ins with a few. then, while loading it back on the trailer, the ramps broke off (this is a tandem-dually 25,000gvw gooseneck trailer), and the front tires of the fork were on the ramps and the rear were on the trailer. It was heavy enough that it picked the back of the truck up off the ground and pushed it about 20' foward, and the forklift fell off the trailer! It got high centered on the ramps, the tires were dangling in the air. So, I had to pull it off the ramps with my yellow truck. It was pretty fun (but i wasnt on the fork lift!! :-laf )

I ended up breaking my 5-foot high lift, my more power puller come along, a shovel (to try to "guide" the power lines over the fork lift), a 10,000lb rachet strap, one set of ramps on the trailer, and bent another set. It took us 7 hours to get the fork lift 17miles!!!!

Now when they say 13'6" is the legal limit, I know why. :-laf

:--) Dude! don't mess with power lines! Sounds like an expensive weekend, but electrocution is permanent. Glad you are ok. I've had experiences like the one you described and ended up wishing I had done something different to start with. You could have driven the fork to your place in less than seven hours :D

We had a good weekend. We did a trail ride up to north Mt. Baldy. Snow drifts eventually stopped us from making it to the peak (but not without a fight!)

How was 4x4 101?

Next weekend.

Luis, I think that is your kobabulator spring that is broke. Or maybe the hydrosolator??

I KEEP BREAKING THE CHINGADERA AND ITS STARTIN TO **** ME OFF!! :-laf

ok i am all calmed down now, the transmission is stilll hmmm "quirky" but running and running strong when it is done quirking. still lookin for a re build here soon, so if any of you guys know anybody local that does good work i may consider going with them, but i think i may be going with a bd product

74 in a 45!!! :--) luckily the cop was "military friendly" watch yourselves westbound just short of louisiana overpass!!!

your truck will go 74?? I thought it weezed out at like 55.

Reminder::: 4x4 101 this saturday!!! The course is much better than in years past. The website guy for nm4wheelers (Glen Bontley) was actually slightly scared on one off camber section in his personal jeep (nothing to laugh at, by the way). So, I think taking the liberty over the whole course is out of the question, but the Rubicon should be able to strut its stuff. Robert Auge does not have a Power Wagon to use, though. to bad.

ha fifty five!? i believe your gps said different, and since we are on the subject what was your top speed? 107? childs play, and about bein scared member when your white knuckles as we went into that 4wheel slide on louisiana?? he he he

Yeah, then how come you couldnt pass my little V-6 mitsubishi mighty max until I slammed on the brakes at 70??? :-laf

Actually, mine runs 106. 4, not 107. but when Im at 106. 4, your still at 55!!! :-laf ha ha. just kiddin around.

Did you decide if you wanna try the hole saw, or are you just gonna use a dremel?

i was driving behind that hideous thing so i couldnt be identified as knowing you! sorry about that . 6mph slip up i gave you the benefit of the doubt. tst box is sitting on my bed, i may just install it tonight, so i hope you enjoyed your pitiful little reign at the top! as for the scotty i think i am going to use a die grinder or somethin we will see how much i have to drink prior :-laf

Sure you were, that is why you got in the other lane and tried to pass me? you were just scared of the racing stripes!!! :-laf

Dude, the first time you put that box on 9, your trans is toast. so is your HX-35. :D By then, my income tax check will have arrived, and I can get my clutch from Joe, then its on. No more slipping clutch! Yea! :)

as soon as you can beat the pitiful mighty max (which as 180,000 miles btw), then you have earned the right to race the other truck. :-laf

I'd say if you drink any more than 2, the hole saw is not for you. that thing will break your arm off. Id say drink a case, and get out the dremel, hand it to mario, and tell him to start cuttin. that way, when you have a hole all the way down the firewall, you can blame him!!!

Oh yeah, tell him happy birthday, by the way.

OK, went to Auge's yesterday. On the way down saw Joe D heading back up I-25 near Isleta Casino. .

It was about 1:00 by the time we got to Belen. Grabbed some lunch for the kids at Blakes and sat on the tailgate and watched the Jeeps run. As soon as I pulled in, a guy asked me if I was going to run the course in my truck. Yeah, right.

Anyway, the kids went for rides and they had a ball, so it was worth the trip down.

Sorry if I missed any of you guys.

I saw a white (I think) 2nd gen friday, around noon, at eubank and central. It had a road armor rear bumper, Mag-Hytec rear cover, a base sticker, and a TDR grille badge/TDR reciever cover. Anyone know who it is??

Good Laugh for you guys... (espcially Joe)

I have a good laugh for you guys (especially you, Joe) :)

Last night I was driving home on I-25, Just south of Rio Bravo. I noticed a guy I went to school with was broke down on the side of the road in a dodge, I hadnt seen him in 5 years or so, so I stopped to help him. Well, his truck had just vapor locked, So instead I got a 30 minute BS session and more knowledge about my cummins than anyone could ever know. Im sure you have all heard me speak of the "wheelie truck", the black CTD dually that the owner claims will do wheelies. Well, come to find out, they are like best friends. He tells me that they just dyno'd the "wheelie" truck a few months ago. It has a "380" cam plate, injectors, and a "special ball bearing turbo, from Jegs" and it made 806 hp at the rear wheels! He's also running the highest boost level on any cummins in the country, at 48psi!! So I guess your number doesnt stand anymore, huh Joe? :-laf Another truck from Los Lunas is owned by his friend (green 3rd gen 6-speed), has a TST power max 3, and it is "well on its way to becoming the fastest truck in the nation". It will beat cobras and vipers left and right, with nothing more than the TST. And thats even with the clutch slipping on level 9. Supposedly the guy with the 3rd gen's uncle used to play for the Dallas cowboys, but is now a Cummins Expert, and he builds the elusive "380" cam plate. There are only 4 in existance, though, because they are so hard to build and expensive (like thousands of dollars). At this point, I'm already having a hard time not wetting my pants from laughing so hard. :-laf Then I ask him why the wheelie truck doesnt race at the strip or anything. He told me that they wont allow him to. Because the first time he raced, at launch (in 3rd gear of a 5-speed), the front wheels were off the ground higher than the wall, so the officials told him that if he didnt get driveshaft loops and wheelie bars, he would no longer be allowed to race!! I almost coudnt contain myself! When Joe gets his Dyno, Im gonna pay for this guy's pull just to see him show! I also learned that the pumps on 98 12V 5-speeds that are quad cabs and short beds are worth a lot of money because nobody makes them anymore, and there were only like 100 QC SB's made in 98. In fact, with my pump and the "special 380" camplate, I could make well over 600hp, with my stock turbo and clutch!!!!

I dont know if you guys think this is as hilarious as I do, but I thought I would share the mentality of the cummins folk from around Los Lunas with you. Luckily, none of them are TDR members. (obviously).
