Repair to damaged battery post

Interesting Post from a Garret employee

Well sort of. This guy, from overseas, decided to put a mechanical pumped Duramax on a Massey Ferguson small tractor to compete in some sort of pulling class. Lots on ingenuity in this considering it was a CR injection motor to start out life. Would be nice if they offered it as stock. :) Then I'd like it better than an Oliver Super 99 GM Detroit.

While your on a tractor subject, i was at the Natl. farm machinery show last week, and the thing that most impressed me was a new 42 ft. bush hog. It said a 250 horse tractor was min. to pull it. Randy:

The IH 1468 is the international with the IH v8 diesel in it.

and I have driven a 4010 powershift that had a 4bt re-power and it was extremley fast too! that is going to happen when you put a 3600 rpm governed engine in a tractor that originally had 2400 rpm max.

MF had the 2775 that had a V8 (had one for a long time). It was a Perkins, 640 disp. , rated at 165 hp. They also had a 2875 and it was turbo with 190 hp. The motor was OK but everything else didnt hold together very good. I replaced it with a MF 4840 that has the Cummins 903 disp. rated at 210 hp. It has been a good one.

Yep, it was an International DV550 or a version of it. The earlier models idled on 4 cylinders and ran on 8. It was a disaster in medium duty trucks. The International 9-liter V8 was a redesigned version which was sold against with the CAT 3208 in Ford and GM trucks. Fortunately, the DT466 turbocharged inline 6 cylinder was introduced in medium duty trucks and the others are history.

When IH bought Steiger, they tried the IH V800 V-8 in Steigers for a while. The V800 wasn't reliable and was eventually replaced with Cummins.
