I was looking at the Michelin site to see if they might have launched a new tire for our trucks yet and came across a this. It is a 235/80/17E in their M/S tire. I ran the M/S tire on my 2nd Gen and found it to be a very good tire for wet traction and wear. On the flip side, I found their A/S tire to be fast wearing and dangerous on wet pavement after only 20 to 30K.

I was hoping to find a 275 to 285/70 to replace my second set of BFG tires. I got 45 or 50K out of my stock BFG tires and then switched to the 285/70/17D All terrain KO tire. It looks like I will get 55 or 60K out of them. I would go back with them, but the side walls are not as stiff as the E load range tires and the truck is not as stable with any tongue weights over 1000 lbs.

I would like to see a sticky thread with all the relevant tires in D or E load range listed. Right now I only see two or three tires in E range and only a hand full in D range.

Toyo has a new heary truck tire out M-54 you might want to check out, I just 285/75 x16 on 2nd generation.

good luck

What they need to make is the MS in a 365-70 E like the stock tires. I had the MS tires on my 01. 5 and loved them.

Posm, I was really thinking about the BFG KO tires you are running but was afraid of them for the very possible reason you mention. . . sidewall stability. glad I didn't go that route.

I e-mailed Michelin the other day about this:

Dear Mr. Lawrence:

Thank you for visiting our Web site and sending us your e-mail.

In response to your message: Is the LTX M/S actually available in

235/80R17? It's listed in your online catalog, but none of your

distributors seem to know about it.

The Michelin LTX M/S LT235/80R17 LRE, part number 53346, is a new size and

will be ready for sale on May 1, 2005.
As usual, timing is everything. I'm just about at the point of needing new rubber, so this works out perfectly! :)
