Was breifly behind a new truck yesterday. Had an emblem under the DODGE emblem on the left side of the tailgate, it read

BIG HORN

Anyone know about this, or am I behind the times.

A few of the dealers in the Albuquerque area make up their own dealer-installed aftermarket packages and come up with a name like "Rio Grande Edition" or the like. That is probably what you saw.

I saw one the other day here in No. Calif. It was a 1500 quad cab lb 4x4. Had a silver badge that said Bighorn Edition under the Dodge on the tailgate. That all I know about it.

You are behind the times. It's a Dodge Ram Big Horn edition 1/2t. They're all over down here. I think they're a geographic specific, not dealer specific. I remember the commercials on TV last year.

Over here on Florida it's the "Rumble Bee" 1/2 ton hemi truck with a scoop and a resemblance of the old "Super Bee" stripe around it;s rear.

Up here in Ohio it's the "Thunder Road" edition. Basically just a body kit, near as I can tell. 1/2 ton trucks only. :)

I saw a "Big Horn" edition here in north east Maryland,It was a 2500 Cummins two wheel drive/white two tone (gold) with gold lower and a leather package that resembled a baseball glove in texture. Don't recall if it was a Laramie or aan SLT base !

CT I've seen the Rumble bee 1/2 ton and shoot one other one, not into NASCAR too much but it was maybe the Earnhart edition I'll have to pay better attention. Basically red with some stickons. Oh and red trimmed leather seats and steering wheel.

Also have the 3500 (Texas Ranch) edition with the softest brown leather seats.

Darren

Ah, they do make an edition to compete with Ford King Ranch. I love that saddle leather in the King Ranch. Rumblebees are nationwide. Sounds like dodge has more than one geographic specific edition.

I have been researching ordering a truck for some time now. You can get what they call the "Big Horn" package. 2004 Dodge Ram

Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4 Dr Extended Cab

Value Group, Big Horn (AM3) (Mfr. Code: AM3)

Axle Ratio, 3. 92

Differential, Limited Slip

Lights, Front Fog

Wheels, 17-inch Polished Cast Aluminum

Window, Sliding Rear

Notes and Relationships

Not available with 8 Foot Truck Bed. Requires SLT Quick Order Package 23G, or SLT Quick Order Package 24G, or SLT Quick Order Package 26G.

Price includes a discount of $660 (invoice) and $890 (retail). Limited availibilty, see dealer for details.

I wonder if this is what this truck was. Apparently, the big horn package saves a bit of dough. I opted out because I want 3. 73s and LWB. I not aware that the truck would have special badging.

Pete

I've also been building a truck to order and have seen on the 2004 lists(kbb, edmunds) the value groups "Big Horn" and "Lone Star".

They look to be exactly the same value groups with the following components:

K17 Body Side Moldings

LNJ Fog lights

SCV Leather-wrapped Steering wheel

DSA Limited-slip rear diff (doesn't specify ratio)

GFD Rear slider

XEA Tow hooks

AHC Trailer-tow Group

WGD Forged AL wheels

This all comes [individually] to total of $880 invoice, plus whatever the forged AL wheels are(I couldn't find the cost)

If you've seen pkg for $660 invoice, then yeah it's a bargain.

big horn

jchapin--

I copied that info from intellichoice website.

I did not get the big horn for the following reasons:

3. 92 ratio---I want 3. 73

available in SWB only---I want LWB. Why own a short bed truck with the capacity of towing the same as a long bed. And I want a 5th wheel and don't want to fool around with a slider.

Other than the two reasons above, the big horn bundles a lot of options most of us want at a good price.

Marketing Areas

If dodge is marketing certain areas, with "special" truck packages, then Minnesota should be seeing a "government edition" truck that is given away to all those who can't afford a truck on their own.

Hey, just because they don't work doesn't mean they shoudln't have nice transportation.

Alvarez, wow that's wierd; 3. 92?

I'm also looking at 3. 73 but it didn't state anywhere on my lists what the ratio is. I thought you only get a choice of 3. 73(Standard) or 4. 10(Optional) with these trucks from the factory.

Anyway, I couldn't find the price for the LoneStar/BigHorn pkg groups either, I'll have to check out the site you mentioned. Thanks! -J

I think 3. 92 are 1/2 ton, thus making the package 1/2 ton only. Although it was reported to be seen on a 3/4 ton?
