new motor no start

just finished installing my new (used) motor will not start i have sentry key system and i think thats my problem the ecm is also new (used) while cranking the red scurity lite stays on while cranking do i have to go to the dealer or the auto parts store rent dbrIII tool thanks

You say the motor and the ECM are new (used). The ECM is VIN locked to the PCM of the truck it comes out of - from what I understand anyway. I have heard of programmers that are able to reprogram the ECM and relock it to the PCM you try to run it with, but I don't know how to do it myself. I see in your sig that you have a Smarty, contact them and see if they can help.

You dont need a stinkn dealer. You have a Smarty call BOB he is the the MANOo. Oo. Oo. I had the same problem when I did a motor/PCM swap he fixed me up with program worked like a champ. Dealer wanted to sell me a new PCM not to mention they told me my truck would never run because I used a 6spd motor to replace my auto motor. You should have seen the look on their face when I drove my truck out of their back lot:-laf Randy

He has the sentry Key, Now in the future if you have a Problem with the BCM and your aftermarket program maker is no able to help you with the new BCM?, or you install NAV Radio? or what if the immobilizer itself fails?. . look how unstable Chrysler is . .

Is that the key with the chip? My truck would fire then shut down 3rd time it locked up hence my trip to the dealer. From what I under stand and thats very little. I was told all ECMs were vin locked I actually have two ECMs that work in my truck now because there was not any thing wrong with the first one like we thought. Best of Luck Randy

Yep, Two is the way to go. . My Guess is these componets, ECM. PCM,TCM,BCM,TIPM,FCM,etc, will be could for 12/15 years normal uses.
