New Mud Tires

Folks, I need to get some new tires for my truck this fall and was wondering if anyone had any experience with Firestone Destination M/T tires. I'm running BFG A/T in 315-70-17 on H2 rims now and am very happy with the way they fit, so thought I would stay with that size. Only problem is I doubt I can run tire chains with tires that big, but I TRY to get through the winters here in NW Pa without them anyway, but some years have had to run them to get through.



My truck is an 03 2500 4x4 with no lift.

I have purchased a couple sets of Firestone Destinations recently for various vehicles. They have been the AT's not the MT's, but I can't say enough good things about them. Highly recommend them.

I had no trouble finding chains to fit BFG 315/70 X 17's, they were a off the shelf item at truck supply store in Billings!

Thanks Mickey! I think chains would work fine on the back as well. I ran them on all fours on the company F-250 I had, but those were only 265 BFG tires. But these tires look to be more aggressive, plus they are bigger, so I probably won't have to run the chains as often. Last year I made it through fine without them and never got buried, yet I was the one who pulled everyone else out!

These tires are amazing!!

I am on my second set. they will last about 40000 miles if you rotate and rotate often. They like to cup. My dad has transforce at 's, and I have the destination mt's. There is no comparison in the field pulling grain wagons that weigh around 29000 lbs. It has to be real dry and packed so he can use his truck. I can pretty much pull the wagons anywhere within reason. Never been stuck in mud or snow. They have stiff sidewalls when pumped up to 70-80lbs. Never any sway pulling the gooseneck or fifth wheel. I can't say enough good about them.

I can't spin on asphalt. they just bite! I'm pretty sure they will hold more than my South Bend Clutch will hold.

I've had a few sets come through my shop, and they perform very well in the mud and snow. I even bought a '90 4x4 that had a set on it, and they worked great on the ranch. My only caution about Firestone products is that you need to keep them out of the sun and be sure they are used up in three years. Here in the Texas heat, they become may-pops when they reach three years of age, regardless of tread depth or design. Michelin's are even worse, and Goodyears are rags, in my personal experience and opinion.



Yeah, if you're truck is stock, tire chains are not an option on that height tire, unless you trim the fenders and modify the four link arms. They will hit the fender liners hard and catch on the four link at full lock. I run 315/75 16s on most of my ranch trucks for flotation, and live with the occasional rub on the fender and links..... the brush is much harder on them than that.

Well I just got my new Firestone Destination M/T's in 315-70-R17. The fit and look great. Huge tread blocks! I only drove with them home from the tire store about 30 miles and they seem fine.



I'm sure I'll have them in the mud real soon, and in the snow in not too long.
