New Muffler Design

[HEMI®Dart]

I was thumbing thru Summit and came across a new type of muffler called an Exhaust Insert.
Its really designed to slip inside the collector of a gasoline type header.

Talk about an easy install. Just slip it inside of our aftermarket 4" exhaust systems. I believe it's 'tunable'. Remove or add a disc to lower or increase sound. Like the Supertrapp mufflers.

The muffler slides INTO a 4" exhaust pipe.

You could experiment where in the system it sounds best. It might need to be put before a bend, so it won't blow out. #ad


If you are running a straight pipe, and its too loud, and want to quiet it down without pulling the pipes apart again, this might slip into the end of the exhaust tip?

Unless its crimped in or tack welded, it sounds like it could be a big headache. Rattle Rattle Rattle.

I didn't think of that sdalton. We would want a snug fit. It might need to be secured with a sheet metal screw. Or possibly just an exhaust clamp slightly tightened on the pipe where the muffler is.

Looks like a Big Cork to me. Maybe we could just stuff oup pipes with steel wool. i agree with the rattle problem also. These motors have so much exuast volume anything in the pipe would be a restriction.

That is similar to what is inside a Donaldson muffler (ie Big Rig).

I tried a real Supertrapp tip one time in the 4" stock exhaust tip. It sounded good until I stepped on the loud peddle. Even with the end cap gone, it still sounded like an open air hose at the shop. Apparently, the mighty Cummins moves too much air for anything less than 3" diameter.
