This just started yesterday, when I depress the clutch pedal at the bottom of the stroke it makes a click.

If I do not let the pedal come all the way up and depress it again no click, but if I let it all the way out and depress it clicks again. I am thinking starter safety switch but I DID NOT have the click before yesterday now @ 36,500 miles I have a click

Anyone else experiencing this click noise?

Mine has done it since about 18,000 miles (I have 36,000 now). I don't think it's the interlock, either as mine does it sometimes but not always. Anyway, when the truck was in for the last warraty check (35,600), the dealer said "normal operation".

What do you expect?

Anyway, it's documented.

Yes I can relate to that the DC Service Department Crib sheet must say use these phrases, "Normal Operation" and "Could Not Duplicate the Problem" !

My 05 with 1900 miles is doing that as well have not had a chance to look into it or take it to the dealer, but does not look like the dealer is going to do anything anyhow.

Spray some oil on the rod that goes from the clutch pedal to the master cylinder and then work the clutch a few times. I use silicone-based fluid just to be sure no oil-based stuff runs down into the cylinder and softens the seal (which might be an unwarranted worry but I figure better safe than sorry). It is the clutch interlock switch mechanism that makes that noise. A related noise is a squeak that is caused by the spring in the mechanism rubbing on the rod as you depress the clutch. My '02 had it terribly and my '03 gets it on occassion.

Thanks for the info & solution Badunit.

I will have to pick-up some silicone lubricant spray and give that a try.

Mine only does it in cold weather. Since I live in Phoenix, it hasn't bothered me often enough to crawl down there ;-)

It looks & sounds like the silicone spray did the trick, the click is gone. :)

It took a second application though, on the fist try I guess I was a little to conservative with the application on the second try I sprayed the rod down pretty good, tight spot to get a big hand and a spray can into and still see what you are trying to get the spray to land on.

Thanks again Badunit !

the pin through the pedal that holds the rod is made of plastic. it wears a groove in it from pushing the rod in the slave cyl, I think the clicking is it on the high side falling to the grove in mid stroke making the noise. I pulled mine and turned it 180 an cured the problem, then put in a new pin with lube to help this time.

I have an '05 2500. My clutch pedal made noise from the day I got it. I looked under the dash. All of the pedals are made of plastic!!! It seems like it's the pieces of plastic are "creaking" as they rub together. I haven't really done anything to quiet it up yet.

Definetly- "creaking" is a great wat to say what mine is doing! Especially after a 30 minute run and everything has heated up, it's been doing it for a while. It gets to the point that it is affecting smooth engagment and causing a sticky/ creraking condition. I am working up a laundry list of warranty work. So far I have this and the door seal rip deal. I will try the silicone spray first.

Dealer says oh thats normal, its relieving pressure after it builds up...

#@$%!

I asked why it doesn't do it consistently then and all the service guy would do is repeat what the tech had written.

I have had the same problem for a while now. I am going to do the silicon thing this weekend, along with the annual silicone on the seal and stuff, don't like having doors frozen shut, it is a bummer :( ... . been there, torn that!!

Well I'm as suprised as anybody but apparently the dealer was right. These are pics of the clutch pressure relief valve. That is where my click is coming from. Anyone know how it works?

My '05 started doing that right after delivery. Now, a month and a half later, with 8500 kms on it, it went away. Wierd...
