Our stock '94 has seemed kinda sluggish to me since we bought it a few months ago, but with no previous diesel experience to judge by I wasn't sure... and boost was low at 10 PSI WOT uphill. After checking for charge air leaks (and not finding any) I pulled the overflow valve (previous owner apparently had been there before me, thank goodness, so the manifold was already ground out to give clearance for valve removal), and the spring was a tad short. Rather than stretch it, as many have discussed here, I bit the bullet and bought a new one, since the steel ball looked a tiny bit pitted/worn, as well. Instant improvement: better acceleration, more top-end power, and boost pressure now tops out at 15 PSI (still less than what many here recommend, but right on the money for Dodge specs). Just thought I'd share this experience since low boost and power are such common complaints around here.
Now the fun can begin: with gauges installed and engine up to specs, I'm comfortable with adding some mods. #6 TST plate and KDP fix, here I come!
