Road Rage

Bad ball joints after 10K, what gives?

I personally know about a dozen younger families that were going to purchase a TT and a Tow Vehicle BUT now have bagged the idea altogether... . I think this is going to be the final straw for most new RV people - I wouldn't want to own a TT 5th wheel or Camper manufacturing business at all..... sure some will sell - but it's heydays are definately over!

We vote at the polls about every 4 years or so, but we vote with our dollars every single day. We can change this BS but as with most other voting processes the bigger the majority the better. A loud voice will not be ignored. One thing is for sure, one person cannot effect change.

I've seen this cycle so many times in my life that I don't get exciited about it anymore. Seems to happen every time that fuel breaks another whole dollar amount.

Thats one of the reason i parked mine for good, fuel is pricey. We bought a RV lot (5700Sq Ft---nice size/trees) 2 hours away from our home at a lake and are in the process of landscapping/boat garage/deck etc this year. With my crazy work schedule/hours/costs i barley used our Jayco 2000 travel trailer, traded it off on a real nice 07 Glendale 36Ft Titanium 5ver----last year, i only missed 2 weekends in 8 months, used in the first year more that i ever used my old trailer ever. (April-Nov,2 weekend weddings that the Mrs would not let me get out of:-{}). We decided against a park model for now just in case we want to pull once every couple of years and see some places. Around here in the last five or so years people are migrating here because the economy is so hot and a lot are wanting to camp---try finding a site ,most are full by Wed/Thurs/$40. 00+ a night and forget about any ones with a view or waterfront. Now a lot are just plunking down there unit on a permanent site, set it up once and enjoy for a least 3 seasons of the year. PS I ran into a guy with a big motor home and he said it was 500. 00 a weekend for costs/fuel/site/ food---maybe a round of golf, just to get away from it all  Now i drive my 35/40MPG Acura beater to and from the lake---last weekend 260miles--$30. 00 bucks in fuel round trip---little easier on the wallet than dragging my unit around. That's sad that many won't get into the RV scene. We've been doing it for about 10 years now and our kids have seen places that most don't. Attendance is dropping at National Parks. I can see lots of tourist towns drying up. It's so much more than just expensive fuel.

A couple of years ago I saw the real estate bubble coming and sold my home to pull out my equity. My wife and I purchased a fifth wheel trailer and have been living in it since then. I have met many people who did the same. Personally, I think that the larger RV market won't be affected that bad because many people can't afford the inflated home prices now. The weekend camping market will suffer though.

Probably true with the

use for a home or at a stationary place... ... . that makes some sense... . I do hate to think that we've come this way - so many people that don't have a ton of $$$$ really enjoyed the lifestyle that driving, boating and camping has for them... but will now either do it a lot less, travel closer or not at all... And I do think the vacation business and tourism $$$ are going to take big change - what it will be is anybody's guess.....

For me I can afford to do this BUT I have no decided NOT TO - I was going to buy a TT but have said no... I voted with my pocket book..... and I know a lot of others have to... Just for principle I'm not going to pay these $$$$ - "I know I may be biting my nose off to spite my face"... ... but I refuse to give these pricks any more $$$ than I absolutely have to..... and I'm seriously thinking about dumping thr truck... ... I love it - but fuel is now $4. 25/gallon - it ticks me off so much I can't hardly see straight..... #@$%!

Yea, I know what you're saying when it comes to these fuel prices. The home I sold was in Graham, Washington. My wifes commute to work was twenty miles on way and mine was 35 miles to the Boeing plant. I'd hate to be making that commute now with these fuel prices.

After we sold our home we moved to a little town where I grew up in California, we have family there. It's up in the High Sierras and its main industry is tourism, (skiing, hunting, fishing, camping). We live in the full-timers section of an RV park so I've got a good view of whats coming and going. This last year I've noticed a big drop in the number of smaller RV's. The number of larger/more expensive motorhomes has stayed about the same.

Sometimes I miss that big, fancy house we had in Washington, then I look out the window at the mountains and realize how lucky I am. I feel blessed that I have some of the best fishing and camping areas in the state within a few miles of my home. Unfortuneatly, not all are as lucky.

It's sad when you think about all the people who work hard all their lives to raise their family and retire then have to sit at home because they can't afford these outragious fuel prices.

THIS COUNTRY IS REALLY GOING IN THE CRAPPER!!!!!
