Edge EZ problem???

Over the last month I have been making trips from N. Charlotte NC to my house in Kitty Hawk to take care of Isabell damage. The route I have been taking is I85 to I40 to NC64. It's over 300 miles and mostly highway.

The trip over was on thursday night and I got really lucky and only hit 2 red lights, so the truck only stopped forward progress 2 times:D, anyhow when we pulled in the driveway the overhead said 31. 1 (I have an EZ and have checked the mileage several times and it's ALWAYS off between 4-5 mpg) So I got between 26. 1 and 27. 1 for the trip over!!!:--) I did keep it at the speed limit for the most part 65-70 mph on I85 and I40 and then 60mph on NC64

Then during our stay on the OBX through sunday afternoon I made several short trips to Home Depot, to haul away storm debris, get food, etc. leaving the truck idle while unloading.

Sunday we headed back to Charlotte, I stopped in Greensboro to fill the tank at 720 miles and it took 31 gallons topped off:) Overhead said 28. 1 at that point and at 720 miles the low fuel light wasn't even on yet. I was on more of a time schedule on the way home and went a wee faster;)

For anyone curious I have an '03 HO 6 spd QC LB 4x4 3. 73 EZ on level 6. I was running Shell fuel with PS diesel kleen and had just changed the fuel filter and the truck had 41,100 miles on departure. Also 3 people in the cab, a Golden Retriever 2 coolers and a few bags in the bed.

Sorry for the long post, I was just really suprised. Previous best was 24. 1 over 200+ miles.

Thanks for reading

WOW! and at 21. 23 MPG, on EZ(level 4), I thought I was cooking!! Well, 720/31 = 23. 225 --- doesn't seem so outta line considering you have 41K on yours, and I have 9k on my odometer.

before long these diesel will MAKE fuel when you drive, and then just driving home will make you money!!

21.9!

My best tank so far was 609. 0 miles on 27. 80 gals, for 21. 9 MPG :D (EZ Level 4; Scotty III; no topper; max feather-foot & 55MPH commute; tires 70/80 psi f/r)

Next five best tanks:

359. 8/16. 59 21. 7 MPG EZ 4; no topper; 70 MPH highway; tires 70/80 psi f/r

240. 7/11. 18 21. 5 MPG EZ 6; speed limit (55-70) highway plus 55 MPH commute

253. 6/12. 07 21. 0 MPG EZ 4 55-60 MPH commute

464. 5/22. 27 20. 9 MPG EZ 4; no topper; many errands; 55-60 MPH commute; tires 70/80 psi f/r

456. 5/22. 19 20. 6 MPG EZ 6 commuting at 60 MPH

Of course, I don't want to talk about my worst tanks ;)

Speaking of that, heres interesting info:

second tank after learning that I don't have to leave every stopsign at full pedal --- 21. 5 MPG

That's a pretty good match for my experience. I recently got my G-Tech Comp working again, and just had to try some performance runs to check it out. That same tank included a lot of charging around at 80 MPH, besides. It didn't make the top five list

I just posted a couple of pics in the Towing & Hauling Pics thread

Let's see, Currie 4" (short-arm) lift + 1" body lift, 35s, Atlas II, Detroit rear, ARB front, etc. --PM me for more details off-topic.

On-topic: Towing it on the flat-bed to Easter Jeep Safari (14,580 lbs GCW) at 75 MPH yielded 12. 9 MPG for 4773 miles; in the 5th-wheel toy-hauler to All-4-Fun (22,780 lbs GCW) at 65 MPH yielded 10. 9 MPG for 4651 miles.
