Order or Buy off Lot?????

Picked up my new dodge CTD yesterday from Dishman Dodge. I ordered the alloy rims and purchased the chromed steel rims from a TDR member.

The alloy rims on the "04's are a flat or dull finish and are not too becoming. The rims on my new truck were polished and shiny. They were alloys, but are these the new rims that are designed for the new "05 year model. I'll take a photo so you can see the difference.

Anyone else get these new style rims??

Interesting. Yes I would like to see a photo. I thought about chroming my aluminum wheels but felt they wouldn't look good enough to justify the cost 'cause I'm not to keen on the styling. I hope to do the 18x8. 5" Weld wheels from T-Rex eventually and put 285/60/18" Terra Grapplers on them.

Man, I hope so!! That's one of the reasons I waited for an '05! :D I was also hoping for new paint colors but that doesn't look like it'll happen...

regards,

FYI, the new wheels are not polished, but are chrome clad steel. The Aluminum Alloy wheels have the dull or matte finish. The chrome ones are not aluminum alloy, but are chrome clad steel wheels with the same design as the aluminum alloy ones. The chrome clad steel ones come on an SLT, while the aluminum alloy ones come on a Laramie.

Um, the new wheels are indeed polished. I do agree they could be polished better and aren't as shiny as they could be (chrome-like), if that's what you mean by dull/matte.

Hi, just picked up a New 2004. 5 3005 4x4 Quad Short box with the 48RE yesterday with the new polished alloy's. Love those wheels with the truck! Oo. The wheels along with the deal sealed the fate of my 98 24v 2wd. Trucks build date was 06/04 so the wheels must be a late change. Love the truck so far. I am a new member and this is my 2nd message so I hope I am doing this right  Love the TDR so far! :D

Congrats, its a great feeling isnt it Oo.

So, does Dodge make matte (unpolished) aluminum alloy, polished aluminum alloy, as well as chrome clad steel all in the same design? I was at the local dealership over the weekend and saw 3 trucks with chrome clad steel (same exact design as my matte aluminum) and half a dozen Laramie's with matte aluminum. I looked closely and didn't find any trucks with polished alloy, only chrome clad steel.

No, they do not make the painted (is this what you mean by matte?) alloy wheels anymore. You may see quite a few new trucks still on the lot with them tho. Currently you can get chrome steel, or polished alloy. Or if you get an ST you can get the ugly painted steel ones that some people like for some reason. :p

Hey, I'm one of those people that like the ST rims... dunno, just says "work truck" to me. I might have to bow out and get the SLT so it is more "family oriented", but my heart will always be with roll-up windows, rubber floors, and manual locks. Oh, and the ugly steel wheels :)

JeepDude, congrats on getting your truck ordered, I'm hoping I get to start the agonizing wait here pretty soon.

Hey that's not a problem! I'm sure someone with an ST would be more than happy to give you their steel wheels in trade for your chrome or polished ones! :)

Polished Aluminum

You'd probably be doing good to find a set jadoca. The new polished aluminum wheels have been going for $800-$900 on eBay (when you can find them) which is about $200 more than the previous dull aluminum wheels have been fetching. As more and more trucks are hitting the road with them more should be available.

Is that center hub a seperate piece?

I'm thinking my wheels would look much better with those center hubs.

If they would fit.
