We've had lots of complaints from users that they miss their private message notifications and that private messages go unanswered because people aren't aware of them. In response to these issues I modified the software today so that if you have any unread private messages it will flash a line near the top of the screen (below the header) letting you know that you have unread messages. It will show up on the list of forums as well as the lists of threads and will stay there until you've read all of your pm's. If you can't figure out which one is unread and it's an older pm you can go to your control panel and there it will list only the pm's that are unread. Let me know what you think of it.

Keep in mind that you don't have to use the quick reply feature Jengle - you can still click on Post Reply and have all the options. The quick reply feature added very little space to the size of a page and even on a dial up connection will only slow the page load down by . 02 seconds. The big advantage is for dial up users if they want to post a quick reply they don't have to load an entirely different page taking the time necessary to do that.

Hey there Stevs,

My PM notification does not seem to be working! I have not had anything that says I have private messages, but they are there from time to time. Just thought I would let you know.

That's why I did this Wayne. I'll send you a pm now so you see what this looks like - it'll stand out like a sore thumb. PM notification emails are getting blocked by some ISP spam blockers. The PM notification popup only works if you have javascript working on your pc and if you let the first page load completely after getting a pm (javascript is the last thing to run after a page is loaded completely). This notification will flash at you near the top of the forum list and thread list and will continue to do so every time until you have 0 unread pm's. Pretty hard to miss.

Ok, Steve. I have now started to use this quick reply box. Makes sense to me now. I'll change my vote from undecided to keep it.
