Had a new pump put in under warrantee last week. Symptoms were heavy smoke at start up, no diesel clatter (sounded like a gas engine) shudder, buck, wash board road feeling at ~1800 to 2000 rpm under load and no response to throttle input from time to time. I had to walk the dealer through how to determine that the pump was bad. They found the relay for the intake heater bad and felt sure that that was my problem. Well, after getting hold of the star hot line they gave the dealer info on how to read some pressures from the pump and determine that it was bad. 9 days later I got my truck back.

To make a long story short, they replaced the pump and the relay for the grid heater as well as putting in the TSB for the fast idle. Now the truck runs great! The best part is, the shudder, buck, wash board road feeling is gone!

My only concern is that with the 275's and my EZ box the truck seems to be louder and rougher than without the box. I have tried the jumper on all three settings and it is still the same, almost as if the timing is advanced too far. (felt like this before the pump was changed out as well) Anyone else have this feeling? Find any solutions?

No with the 275's the truck was smooth as silk. The addition of the EZ made the engine sound "coarse" or harsh although the power seems good, made a noticeable difference in towing power.

DBlaze, I feel the same way about the timing of the EZ. A VA was a lot quieter at power and idle. I am not sure what if anyhting the EZ would hurt if it was too far advanced. I am sure that with massive amounts of fuel and boost it would pit the tops of the pistons, but 275's should not have that problem.

Thats good news!!!

My dealer finally got DC to authorize a new pump for my stumble/hesitation/bucking and am waiting for it to arrive. I am very glad to hear it cleared up your problem!!
