New ram

While I'm not new to ram/cummins having owned previously two 06 cummins auto 4x4 I just bought a 2015 ram 2500 tradesman 4x4 crew can long bed w a g56. In the last my Rams were lifted 8" with 37s. This one will eventually be 6" with 37 as I plan to tow with it. Looking to gear 4.10 or 4.56. I've trolled here but plan to add some now that I'm back in my cummins

It happened to be one of the only g56 4x4 long bed crew cabs around, 400 miles away, and just happened to have snow chief. I'm just excited for the up fitter switches for lighting

Ram put out a document & video a couple of years ago saying both 2500 & 3500 were covered under warranty for snow plowing. I don't have that at my finger tips. But there is programming to prevent the transmission from overheating. I know you hate the g56. But can also plow.

I recall reading that several years ago. As described in the article, all it does is change the characteristics of the cooling fan engagement due to the slower speeds and reduced airflow from the slower speeds as well as airflow reduction from a front mounted plow. I'm highly doubtful this procedure will work on 2013 & newer trucks due to the 3-position exhaust brake switch and maybe even the cruise control switches.

Not sure what inspired you to say that.....can you show me where I said I hated the G56????? Did I ever say they weren't capable of plowing???

Just curious. Are you towing jeeps or mud buggies into the swamp?

I have seen plenty of them littered along I-10 along the PalmSprings area, ya know where all the wind mills are.

No I don't tow jeeps or buggies into the swamps. I do like the clearance for easy off roading, logging trails and such up at the farm and on hunting trips. Might just go 4" not sure yet. It will be properly geared.

Towing will be for a dump trailer, 10-12 foot, home and construction debris hauling

I try not to criticize another man's vision and vehicular preferances... Big lifts are not my thing, but it's great to be able to build it how you want. Three-four inches sounds better to me than six

I could use a little more clearance on occasion some of the places I go, but my current setup with narrow 35s and no lift is working well.

Well your opinion does not offend me. After all if we all thought correctly, which is like me, this word would be a very boring place seeing all these lifted trucks on 37s with gears and no engine mods. Shoot, then my truck wouldn't stand out as much, or be an eye sore to people of your opinion. It takes all kinds to make the word go around, and I don't consider it bashing one bit. But yes i do enjoy lifts and larger tires, but hey it's my wife's money, I shall spend t how I see fit hahaha.

Consider a 7'x14', they have heavier axles, suspension, tires and lift. Trust me, a 6x10 or 12 is not big enough, I started with a 10' moved to 14' and now wish it was 16':-laf

With the G56, you can modify your truck as you wish and not worry about if the transmission needs reprogramming. With an automatic, you might mess up how smooth your ride is because the automatic is programmed for stock build specs
