I have heard there are certain Ram trucks that you are not supposed to use with a slide in camper. My 01 2500 has a much high payload than the new ones it seems. I'm looking at a 07 Ram, long bed 2500 4x4 Cummins, 6 manual. My truck camper is a 8 foot Shadow Cruiser Pop up, 1200 pounds dry. Will I be ok without voiding some kind of warranty?

You should be OK with a lighter pop- up. One thing to note is that the older 2500's with camper option perform similar to the newer 3500's (SRW. ) Look at THIS THREAD where post #16 raises the question similar to your situation. The replier was having some concerns with camper AND trailer on a 2500. if you see youself in a similar situation, you may want to consider a 3500 or plan on air bags.

Some of the newer trucks have a laoding diagram and a "recomendation" for not using slide- in campers. It is sort of a contradiction... why have a loading diagram AND a disclaimer. Even more confusing is that not all trucks have the "NOT recomendation. " I have not found a common thread as to why some do while others don't. My truck (see sig) does not recommend a camper, but a Northstar pop- up is well with in the weight capacity for a 3500. I think more of the concern is using a huge Lance or Bigfoot with dual slid-outs. It most likely is a liability concern of DC if a camper rating was given to a truck when it is not wise to over load (i. e... . Huge camper on a 2500. ) I would not have used a very large camper on my old 2500 even tough it had the camper package.

I demo'd a new '06 3500 similar to mine and the loading instructions did not have a disclaimer. Look in the glove box of the truck you are considering. Get the laoding sheet and see what it says. Make sure the VIN on the sheet matches that of the truck. Get one that has no disclaimer if it make you feel more comfortable as to warranty issues.
