It was time to change my oil today. While having the oil filter out I thought now is the time to change out the non working block heater. Called local Dodge dealer for price $83. 00. Went to Cummins in my area $23. 00. Noticed old heater 750 watts p/n 3940911. New heater 1,000 watts p/n 3942197. This should heat faster. Hope it lasts longer than the old one. Only used it a dozen or so times.

My 1500 watt heater was made by Catz. They make many heaters for all applications but only 750, 1000, & 1500 for the CTD application as far as I know. I bought mine through NAPA.

The 750 watt job is sufficient for all but coldest climates, and economical for extended plug-ins, like overnite or longer - the $$$ add up when ya hit a KW and more, plus they require a pretty decent extension cord for proper operation...

(2) 100w oil pan heaters, (1) 900w cab heater, (1) 750w block heater. Oh yeah, good electric bill.

Notice Espar is almost done being mounted. No more block heater.

With this I do agree. I put mine on a timer and used the higher wattage heater just so the water would be warm enough to make the defroster work immediately.
