New Reader's Rigs Install!!!!

The new, custom programmed for TDR (and one other site) Reader's Rig is being installed tonight and will go live either this evening or tomorrow evening.....



The code is already live on the other site and can be viewed at http://www.ford-trucks.com/



Click on the "User Gallery" link on the right hand menu, right under the message board link. Yeah, I know, its a Ford site, give me a break!



I think you guys and gals are going to love this new feature... . here's an overview:



This Gallery lets you add albums containing photos right from your web browser. Share your photos and favorite web links!



Gallery Management Features

===========================

- Shares login id and password with message boards.

- Create/edit/delete up to 10 albums in your Gallery.

- Add/edit/delete up to 20 photos per album.

- Add/edit/delete your favorite web site links in your Gallery.

- Edit your profile.

- No need to upload thumbnail images. Thumbnails are created automatically!

- Add/edit titles and descriptions to your gallery, its albums and each photo.



Gallery Viewing Features

========================

- Sort albums by year, state, views, rank, date, photos or name.

- Users can vote on albums.

- Users can vote on photos.

- Gallery keeps track of the number of times an album is viewed.

- Gallery keeps track of the number of times a photo is viewed.

- Image thumbnails created on the fly.

- Users can view your photos using the resolution you uploaded with or resize it to their monitor size.

- Each Gallery web site links are shown at the bottom of album displays.

- Drop down list of each User Gallery at the bottom of main screen. This allows you to go into a User's Gallery and view all their albums as a group.



This is version 1. Version 2 is already underway!

Well, I was up till 1:30 am testing the installation in the "live" TDR database. It was painfully slow because I had to be absolutely certain and safe so as to not impact the boards.



Its *almost* ready, I just ran out of steam (I used to be able to code for 48 hours straight in my 20s!).



I will attempt to complete the installation this evening...

This may have already been addressed, but having just tried to enter the gallery; the text box for the user id would not let me type in my full user id "work2muchplay2little" it cut me off after the "i". Looks like it's going to be a great feature - but what's with the Ford in there?

I can't create an account. I click to login, it has me type my forum user/pass, it tells me to click to create an album, I fill out the form, it says ok, click to login, I login, it tells me to create an album, I fill out the form... ...



And I still don't have an album.

First, what browser are you using? I know the system won't work with Opera, I haven't been able to track down why.



Second, make sure you have cookies enabled.

IE 6, and cookies are enabled, but I was definitely having cookie problems at the same time. I kept getting the "you must log in" message from the forum, every now and then this morning. I'm not sure if it was directly related to the album (maybe the album cookies trampling the forum's) or not.

Just tried again, still no luck. No problems coming back to the forum though, it appears those cookies are working fine.

Well, it works great, I love it. Thanks for the new feature Found that Photoshop Elements works great using the "Save as web" feature to adjust file size to <122K. Virtual Show-n-Shine anyone?

Doesn't work from home either. It occured to me that maybe I needed to fill out the form completely (I was just doing the required fields before), but that didn't help either. Cookies work fine here.



Are you seeing my entry in your database at all? (I assume it's SQL based)



Same browser BTW, IE 6 on Windows 2000.

Fixed....

Fixed. It was due to VBulletin allowing certain characters in user ids. This wasn't a problem on the other site the gallery was designed for.
