This is my second 95', the first one was rotting in the same spot as this one, the bottom of the doors. My local crunch and bang shop quoted me over $3,000 frog skins to replace the doors alone! There has got to be a better way. Anyone have access to new doors or good used "rust free" doors? Any ideas?

Since I've never been to your part of the world, for 3K, I'd almost pick up a couple of same color Southern doors and deliver them to you, might even help install.

In your shoes, that'd be my next effort, find two clean, same color rust free doors and have them delivered.

Good luck, RR

I picked up a new pair on eBay a couple years ago for around $550. The dealers get more but if you shop around you'll notice the prices on Dodge body parts drops after the aftermarket gets tooled up.

A good repair (or replacement) should be followed up with rustproofing. I finally got my truck done a couple weeks ago.

I had the original doors fixed in '99 and saw rust on the rocker in '04 so I replaced them. It wasn't the doors! It was the stupid plastic threshold cover I installed that had trapped water and rusted the top of the rocker.

The old doors are still sitting at the bodyshop, he didn't want to throw them away.

Thanks guys.

I was also told by one of the local parts stores that my top window seal was bad, even though it didn't look bad. He told me a little trick to use also. Go to a bicycle shop and buy two cans of chain wax. Then go to a hardware store and get 3 feet of very small diameter surgical tub. Stick the tubing over the spray nozel on the can, insert the hose into the door wheep holes and spray away. As you spray, pull the hose slowly out of the door. As the wax sits and dries, it seals the door off from any rust. Neat trick.

I got the full rust proofing done at the local Ziebart (undercoat, interior of all panels) for $225 (cash, no corrosion warrantee). The front fenders will be the next place you'll see rust, both mine are repaired and now rustproofed.

The funny part is, this truck was in Florida until three years ago. Never saw a snow flake till then. The only rust "literally" on the entire truck is the bottom of the doors. Even the frame rails don't have any rust. That is why I want to get them fixed. Hopefully, I will be able to get another 200,000 out of the old girl. "Truck that is".
