Well I thought I would do my part to help with warming the planet by increasing my carbon footprint. :-laf



She's a 2011 Charger R/T Max with a hemi. It's loaded 508 watt sound system all the bells and whistles it's for my better half. Took a while for it to show up.



What a better time to get one with Regular (87) at $4. 01!!!!!Oo.

But no really. I did allot of research on this one. I guess their built in Canada. The transmission is Dalmer Benz, and the block is still cast iron. It scoots pretty good.

The dam thing wont go past 115!#@$%!. What a WASTE. I guess nothing is out of reach of Nobama!!!

If you put one of those on a lift next to my '83 Mercedes 300D, you'll be amazed at their similarities- rubber damped driveline, IRS, and almost an identical transmission, right down to the pan, which looks like it would fit the MB.

Congratulations. Those are nice cars and very fast for a production sedan. I had an '06 Chrysler 300 Hemi sedan.

The police versions which have better tires and no speed limiter will run about 158 mph according to AR and MT troopers I spoke with several years ago.

Is there nothing Nobama can get to. The dam thing is limited to 115 mph#@$%!. She goes wizzen past 115 then the ECM takes over. Throttle to the floor, and around 3500 on the tach.

In truth I think it was mother Dodge who did that to your new Charger. If you read the speed rating on the sidewalls of your tires and check a tire rating guide I think you'll find the car was OEM equipped with ordinary passenger car tires with a speed rating of about 115 or 120 mph.

The police versions have high performance tires with a speed rating that allows them to reach their true top speed. Several years ago when those cars were new and just showing up on the highways as state police cars I was taking a break at a fuel stop in MT and an older seasoned trooper was driving a shiny new car. I asked him about it and he talked awhile. He told me that before the MT state police issued a Dodge Charger to a trooper he was required to spend a couple of days on a test track at Helena with one to become familiar with its capabilities.

The police versions are seriously fast cars and I don't think they differ much from the consumer version except for tires and perhaps spring rates and shocks.

Yup. The options are.



* RT

* RT Plus

* RT Road & Track

* RT Max



I have the RT Max. The Road & Track must go faster. The RT max is loaded with all the fancy electronics.



We looked at all the higher end rides, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus ETC, and they have nothing on this thing. It's hard to imagine anyone paying 20-25K more and get absolutely nothing.

I believe the Super Track Pack is a $495 (or so) option even on the R/T models. From Automobile magazine:

A Super Track Pack adds larger front and rear anti-roll bars, a lower rear axle ratio, Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, upgraded shocks, and three-mode stability control. Only in cars with the Super Track Pack can stability control be fully turned off.

You might check the rubber on yours and see what you've got.

She's got "V" rated tires. 245/45-20V's which are good up to 150 mph. I also realized when I did my speed run I had my work boots on.



So I may have been a little bound up down at the throttle. I have to wait for anther opportunity to do another speed run. I work 2AM to 2PM and have a good spot near by.

I'll be interested to hear your test results, Mac. You have good tires although not the police Goodyears and there is no doubt whatsoever that the car is capable of 150+. I hope the long arm of the hated EPA, TSA, IRS, or some other despicable federal three letter bureaucracy hasn't insisted that Dodge put a speed governor on it.

Don't let the CHP catch you doing in excess of 130. Your wife will be asking your fellow TDR members for donations to get you bailed out.

That night a bunch of idiots broke into the dealership found the key stash and took "joy rides" in several cars. The soon to be mine charger was one of the vehicles. They found it in a parking lot of a small apartment complex (a mile from the dealership). The cops did some canvassing and apprehended the perps. During the interview with the cops, the perp stated he had the charger up to 140 mph.



Needless to say I made the dealer find me another vehicle, I refused delivery of this one.

This is so weird. I just logged on and caught your post. I did my little experiment this morning(02:30) I-605 between SR-91, and I-405.



It was definitely my work boot that was the problem. I shut it down at 140 mph when I ran out of freeway. Im not sure how much faster it would have gone. I will say this though, the traffic that was probably doing around 70 were like parked cars.



I believe it was around 4500 on the tach, not sure though. I am so glad my wife picked this dam thing out instead of that killer lavender mini van. :-{}

Hey, congratulations, Mac! So mother Dodge does not speed govern them! That's good to know.

I never had the Chrysler 300C hemi I owned over about 120 but figured it was easily capable of much more. Back in '06 when the Dodge Chargers were beginning to show up as state police and police department chase cars all over the country those two highway patrol officers I spoke with seemed almost in awe of the performance their patrol cars were capable of. And they were not green new rookies, they were both seasoned officers.

With a light foot those cars are upscale luxury cars, comfortable and quiet as a tomb at interstate highway cruise speeds and seem to have very capable brakes and taut handling as well. They have great standard features like memory seats and mirrors, and great sound systems too.

Yep, nobama and his EPA, energy czar, etc. also.

I had forgotten. IIRC the Chrysler also had the magic computer-controlled fueling that cuts out fueling for four of the cylinders at steady highway cruise speeds which delivers excellent economy for a car capable of that kind of performance. It was completely seemless in the Chrysler I owned. Driver couldn't feel it at all.
