My last load I brought back was close to 17k and I dropped below 7mpg for the first time. I am usually 7. 5 to 8. 5mpg. Are you using tow hall all the time?

JG

What tire pressure are you running? We towed with our new Hitch Crafter last week. :-laf:-laf I added two shocks to mine.

Incredible... . Oo. Oo. Oo.

I run 65 pounds. I have tried more it just didnt need it. This was the last load. I just rebuilt the trans so I am down shifting a lot more thats costing me some mpg. I run 65-70mph, and I removed the S. J.

I WANT JOE'S TRUCK! I dont know about thoose 488's

DG,

I hear you on the 5500. A 3500 is no 5500 but I will say this from experience:

Purchase a new 2010 3500 add 19. 5" wheels and add one full length rear leaf spring. The increases in GCVW and brake sizes of the 2010 will give you a super truck with a decent ride.

Add an air ride hitch like one below and your truck will ride like a dream.

Yes I do agree with you. I wanted to look into a C&C in the spring but now they are going to have that urea injection and I carry a 100 gal of fuel and I don't need another tank to fill. But I wanted that aisin auto really bad. I am more then happy with my breaks, don't like the AAM axles. The tow ratings of the 3500, 4500, and 5500 are about the same so why not a 3500. That big stake bed would come in handy for me. And that wheel base on Joe's truck has got to make it ride good. We sell trailers & hitches but have never sold one of thoose air ride hitches.

Sorry Joe didn't mean to steal your post

No problems on stealing my post.

Danny,

Why did you add the shocks to the EZ Floater? What purpose do they serve?

Joe

Joe,

I had never personally towed with the hitch before I purchased it. I had only see the video. It did look like a little bounce was evident. Adding shocks could only help soften the bounce.

That makes sense. My hitch is in the trough so I do not have room for shocks, but my experience thus far is that shocks are not needed. We've been over some really rough highways, and the EZ Floater hitch by Hitch Crafters is one GREAT hitch.
