I just ordered the new dual disk spring hub design clutch from SBC. I hear good things about these so we will see. Robert at ngm diesel really recomended it to me highly. I will let you guys know how the install and finished product turns out when i get it. I really want to thank www.ngmdiesel.com for their expert help and service. Give them a call for all your performance parts needs. Oo.

Makes me wish I waited just a bit longer before I ordered my 3850 12CB. :{

I know cause i almost did the same thing, cause they make the sprung hub in the same load plate, thats the same one i am getting, i think the 3850 will hold just fine, the 4200 scares me a little. LOL

Nah! Nothin' the good 'ol SBC upgraded hydrolics can't handle. You'll like the 3850 though, I have yet to hook to a sled and this weekend will be the initial test of how well it does perform. :D Oo.

Please let us know how the transmission shifts with the dual disk. I would like to buy one in the future but I don't want to shift slower to keep the gears from grinding.

My thouhgts on the Sprung DD

I guess it is time for me to reply as well. I got the 3250 (600 hp) installed about a week ago. Initially it was fairly grabby (all or nothing) with increased peddle pressure as it was disengaged. Shifting was somewhat tight at first. This improved drastically once I hit about 100 miles or so. Now it shifts quite smooth. Ironically the initial problems that I had with the clutch and how it engaged, etc. turned out to be my hydros going out. Now I got a new one in it (stock) and it drives like a dream. It engages very smooth but you do know when it grabs. :-laf

Also the truck feels very solid now. Almost like the motor and the rear end are one solid piece. When compared to my ofe, upon accelerating you could feel the drive-line tighten up and feel slack as you let off and accelerated again. That is gone know, like I said it feels very solid.

My other comment is in regards to the chatter that is usually expected. With it in neutral clutch, engaged you can't hear it at all. Maybe slightly if you were to put your head directly above the transmission. I am amazed at how quiet it is. Any average person would never notice it at all. The only real time you can hear it is when you disengage the clutch and hold it in, but that is to be expected.

Overall I am pleased with the performance and it has lived up to all my expectations so far. I will always be putting dual disks in my trucks to come. Time will tell as to how it does once I have some miles on it but I am not too worried. SBC knows their stuff. Also want to thank Robert at NGM for all the help with answering questions and hooking me up with this fine piece of machinery. :cool:
