Hello
well it getting time to change out the OEM shocks. On my 99 I switched to the rancho 9000 adjustable. I was pleased. But I again I come to the group and ask your opnions. What are your suggestions for a stock CCSB SRW 3500 4x4.

thanks in advance
Chris

Bilstien 5100 unless you are going extreme lift. They work stock to 2 inch lift and are great. Have had them and rancho on CTD prefer Bilstien.

I liked the Rancho 9000 adjustable on the back of my 2001.5. Cranked them up with the 5th wheel and down bobtail. Snoking

Hey there Snoking.
thanks.. I did and still do the same with the 99 CTD I Just thought I would see what was out here!

thanks again
chris

Bilstien 4600's are for stock height trucks. I REALLY like these. The 5100 and 4600 are the EXACT same shock except the color difference and the 5100 can be used on stock to 2" lift.

So buy the least expensive one.

I had the Bilstein 5100's on my 02 and was very happy with them, when it's time to replace my stock shocks, they will be at the top of my list.

Anyone have experience with the KYB Monomax? Les Schwab carries them, it's been a long time but it seems like they had a good rep years ago.

I just installed Bilstein's on my 2013. Night and day from the stock shocks. I've had really good luck with the Bilstein's last truck had over 200K miles on them and they were as good as the day I installed them.

I have used the Monomax on previous rams ive owned. But so far they do NOT make any Monomax for 2014 on up. They just make an oem type replacement.

As anybody found a good shock for the rear air assist 3500s? I've still got a while before I need new ones but I'm slowly building a list of do-dads. Maybe and early shock upgrade opportunity will pop up.

Bilstein does NOT make a shock. Personally I don't think I would replace mine even if they did. ONLY reason I replaced my fronts is when hitting a bump in the road I would get a slight after shock. The Bil's cured about 50% of it.

The OE at least on my LongHorn Dually are Nitrogen US Made shocks. MUCH better than the POS shocks on my 11 LongHorn dually.

I have ZERO issues with the stock rear air ride. I run the rears at 65psi at full RAWR and 35 solo.

I'll be the (so far) lone dissenter here. Installed Bilsteins on mine after having good results on my '03. On the '14, it felt as though rebound damping was lacking in the rear without a load. Truck would buck up at the back after undulations in the road, or driving over a bridge. I switched to RS 9000's and was able to get rid of that sensation. The adjustability is also very attractive if you have some weight in the bed, or on the hitch.

Any recommendations to put Bilsteins on the front and rancho's on the back? Or some other combo? Or is that a recipe for disaster?

I noticed however that they said the rancho's are supposed to be a universal mount? But may require some modification? Any advice on that?

On my 2001.5 I put Rancho 5000 non adjustable's on the front and 9000's on the rear. Worked fine as front weight is very static and rear varies a lot with load. Maybe with a truck camper one might want adjustable ones on the front.

Straight bolt on for my '14, except they pressed an undersized sleeve in to the lower mount on one of the front shocks. Factory screw-up, and easily fixed.
