My truck went in for the operation today, dealer said steering box was bad so they ordered me a CH52113500AF. It is indeed a DELPHI box and the lettering is clearly visable by looking down at the overcenter adjustment area. The difference was immediatly noticable, the steering is VERY tight but not sticky and its much more responsive. Before my steering seemed sluggish to responded and had a dead feeling to it. This often caused me to overcorrect while cornering plus I had the dreaded wandering. It now takes a little more effort to turn the wheel, even at parking lot speed, but I was starting to get used to it on the drive home. I'm hoping this cured my problem, only time will tell but it looks good so far and difference is night and day from before. Good luck guys, hope this helps #ad

Great report! Had my local Dealer order same P/N today. Hope mine comes with Delphi on it also . Glad you are happy now. Will post next week how mine comes out. Did they do any re-alignment? Or just install steering box? Appreciate your post immensily! It will help us all, I hope!

DAWG,
they did not re-align my truck but they did put on a new stabilizer. Not sure why but I didn't complain about it. I also gave a detailed vision of what would happen if the lot kid got anywhere near my truck with a garden hose again. #ad

My box was also replaced today. Same part number as Dune Racer. I echo your assessment. Much tighter and responsive. I put about 75 miles on it tonight. I have to get used to driving it without it all over the road now. They also did an alignment on mine. Hang in there Dawg!

Hey Dawg and Dune,
There will be lots of us waiting to find out if this new number is indeed a delphi steering box (CH52113500AF) If the next one of you gets a delphi box I am off to my dealer with this TDR printout to show him how the new box is helping the steeing problem. I just don't want to get another Saginaw box. Please post as soon as possible if you get the delphi and if it helps.
Thanks

Dune Racer. . Congratulations. The Delphi box made a lot of difference in my 01. It seems to be getting better as it breaks in. The main difference between my installation and yours was that the tow in had to be reset. My steering wheel was about 15 degrees off after the installation. The dealer paid for the complete reallignment (tow, caster, camber) and mine has been fun to drive ever since. Sorry I couldn't provide that part number to you guys before (the AF #) I just didn't look at it on the box when they installed the unit. Later.

Does anyone know if the steering box is the same on 2wd and 4wd trucks? I'm doubting it, but here's to wishful thinking. I've definately got a truck that wanders all over the place, and am hoping that DC has a redesigned box that will help.

Later,
Mike

How much does the steering box cost? I doubt I could get the dealer to replace mine, but I would still like to have the new one. Mine doesn't wander alot, some but not alot. It does stick when the vehicle is sitting still (parked and turning the wheel, it sticks, i. e. , gets hard to turn, at certain points in the turn) - this isn't normal is it? And it has some play in it, which I can't stand.

Thanks guys.

had mine replaced last week , not sure of the part number and i don't think they realigned it . i will look at number and also look to see if they replaced the stabilizer . first impression is it got worse , but at slower speed , better on the highway , also seems like there is alot of free play in the center. might be just my imagination .

The part #CH52113500AF is number that the dealer looked the box up under in the computer. I don't know whats on the steering box other than the big Delphi thats stamped on top. I went on a short camping trip this weekend and with the camper on the truck there was a big difference in handling from before. It was much easier driving the windy roads. I'm hoping this trend continues.

TXRAM:
My repair invoice lists two prices: $410. 00 and $574. 00. It's unclear if that's list and cost prices for the box, or the part cost and labor cost. I think they're the list and cost prices for the box. Of course, my cost was $0 #ad

Also, there's $3. 92 listed for oil.

Mopar, Did the dealer replace the steering box with the Delphi box or another Saginaw?
My dealer is ordering the new steering box and he told his parts man to specify a delphi steering box. I only hope this helps and not gets worse as you said yours did.

Guys,

I too had the dreaded steering wander and after 6 visits to my dealer they "fixed" it by installing a delphi box. Now 4,000 miles later the problem is back ! I called the dealer and they stated that they installed the new Delphi box but when I look at it the part numbers on the box do not match the numbers you all are talking about. The part number on mine is P52113500AE. Is it possible they installed the wrong box? Any thoughts you guys have would be helpful.

Thanks
Kevin

i didn't get a delphi box , mines the 52113500AC , i thought i saw someone post that AC was the latest , and it doesn't say delphi on it i can see GM SW when looking down at it.

i will wait a couple months and go back in and complain again , but i think i will have to do what i seem to do with other problems and pay to fix it myself ...

Wish I had steering problems so I could get me one of those Delphi boxes #ad
. Darned truck has tracked straight & true from day one. Oh well #ad

vaughn have you looked , you probably have it . if not i am envious that you got a good one . i said it before i'll say it again , the problem with dodge is the CRAP gm parts they buy.

Mine wonders a wee bit, but pulls to the left like I dont know what! I have had it aligned twice, no diff. Rotate and balance tires every 4k, and that doesnt help either.

Think I should call the dealer and complain? I would like to have an answer when they say theres nothing they can do. Any ideas?

Talked to the local dealer today, 52113500AF is the latest box. SHOULD be Delphi, but he can't tell for sure in computer. Retail price is $685. Everything prior is Saginaw. Beware!!! If you order 52113500AF they may substitute any last digit letter they want! If they have an AC or AE box in stock or in their warehouse they will give that to you first! My local parts guy is pretty good, but only to those he knows. He filled me in on the "use old stock first" policy.

For those of us beyond Warranty, what about the AGR box? Anybody having good results with that yet? I recall seeing that it was around $300, but have not been able to locate them to confirm. Anybody know how to contact?

Hope this info helps those that need to stay in their own lane! #ad

Chad,
what were the before & after specs for the front alignment? The post ("steering theory"?) from the DC tech listed specific settings & I'm wondering if this is what your's is set at.
