different... could work well for a motorcycle or small car application, but anything with some weight to it, it wouldn't do very well. . not much torque in that design of engine. and a diesel might not work so well on it, as the combustion chamber design isn't optimal and the injectors would need to be recessed into rotor section which would make that rotor section very tall and adding much weight. .
 
Interesting concept. Similar to the Wankel rotary concept but looks like many more sealing points to deal with inside the chambers. Hope it works though - it would be good to see some serious competition for the traditional internal combustion engine.
 
nps hit it, I think this design would be a nightmare to seal, and I see some high-friction points. Pretty tough to beat a nice round cylinder with piston & piston rings to create a nice combustion chamber seal. There have been MANY engine concepts/designs come along over the last century attempting to unseat the mighty reciprocating engine (the Wankel has come the closest), but I think they'll be the mainstay until all the oil is gone or the planet is overrun by hybrids or fuel cell cars :rolleyes: LOL
