2005 CTD rebate update

Mod's to my 05

First of all I would like to thank everyone that posts in this forum. I find these forums to be very helpful! I am a first time Diesel owner and have almost 5K miles under my belt with my 05 2500.

My 05 has a 4. 10 rear end with 285/70/R217 Tires. They perform "OK" but look really small.

My truck is used for light duty most of the time and the largest regular towed object is a 22' Bass Boat weighing about 4K pounds fully geared and gas'd up!

So, I would like to go with a bigger tire BUT would like to get a better ride and better MPG.

I would really be thankful for any input.

Thanks!

Can't speak about milage - my 265's were only on for 25 miles. Replaced them with BFG 315;s. Look real good, ride good.

With a 4:10 rear end you might help your milage a little with the taller gearing from the taller tires.

Easiest and cheapest way to increase the mpg is drive like there is an egg between your foot and the throttle pedal. Also try to keep the speedo below 65 mph.

Not as much fun, but can produce a noticable increase in mpg.

Me? I just gave up on mpg, don't bother to even calculate it anymore. Just mash and go.

Yep, that's what a fueling box will do to ya :D There aren't many size options in 17" 265's, 285's, and 315's are all that I know of. The height of 315's would help your mileage but they are a wide tire. The other option is a difrent wheels size. They get expensive but there are options in 18" 19. 5" and 20"

I haven't decided for sure yet, but am leaning towards the GoodYear M/T's in 305/70/17. Just another size for you to consider. :)

Ditto. Except that I'm 100% sure... ok ok, so my pocketbook might not be.
