I want to provide an update on what I've discovered. In another thread I have gone into great detail about some issues I've had since installing the Pace system on my truck. To make a long story short, I developed a front driveshaft vibration and a case of death wobble after having it aligned. To solve the DW I adjusted caster as far positive as the adjuster would allow. This really tightened up the steering. No more DW and the truck handled great.

However, I have now dramatically changed the pinion angle and the vibration became worse. I drove around for awhile without a frt driveshaft because I couldn't stand the vibration. I put the DS back on and began an adjustment program trying to find that happy medium between proper pinion and proper caster angles. I am convinced it's not possible without making concessions with one or the other. I ended up adjusting the caster adjustment cam all the way back negative as it would allow. Oddly enough, this solved the driveshaft vibration and I no longer had any DW. However, the steering was very sloppy but driveable.

Now, I have to tell you that the tires I was running were 285/75/16 BFGs on the factory alloys that had about 15% tread on them. This could not be helping things at all so in (Got 75k miles on them though) my quest for aftermarket wheels, I ended up going with an 18x9 w/0 offset and 325/60/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers (Also Load Range D). Pretty much your standard aftermarket wheel that fits everything but not CORRECTLY. This combination actually rode and handled worse than the BFGs with 75k miles on them. I was to the point where I really didn't like driving the truck. So I'm doing alot of reading here on the website and I find out about the funky wheel specs. we have and also about the Load Range E tire recommendation not only from the KORE fellas but the manufacturer. There IS a reason D/C put E rated tires on the truck.

I bit the bullet and bought some E rated tires. I went with the 305/70/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on the factory alloys. They have a load rating of 3,525@65psi. They look sharp... not too small considering the lift I have either. And I'm here to tell you, They ride flip'n great!! I am ecstatic about the dramatic change in ride quality. I haven't done anything else to the front end and the steering is almost like it was new. I think I may have a little work to do yet but I am so happy with this discovery that I had to share it with you all.

I highly recommend an E rated tire for your next set if you don't have them already. I'm sure there's going to be a bunch of guys that say there truck handles like a corvette with D rated tires but I am here to tell you about the dramatic difference I've discovered FWIW.

Good writeup Erik. Tell me a bit more about the tires and how they fit. What is their overall height on the truck using the stock alloys? Do they rub anywhere? Update your readers rigs and label the pic since you have had so many tire combos. I'd like to see them from afar and also closeup with the front wheels turned to full lock or close to it.

I didn't know you could get "E"s in 305. Thought you had to go to 315s. Thanks for the info.
