Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) new to cummins

hello i'm new on this forum and to the dodge with cummins power i've always had ford diesels and still do but we traded the wifes 2001 1500 ram qc 4x4 off for a 2001 2500 qc 6spd 4x4 ho cummins and we really like it we've only had it 2 days and we put a set of 315 75r 16 meats on it with eagle 16x10 aluminum modular wheels i'm going to put the 2" lift kit on today i straight piped it and it sounds awesome we would like a little more power and will probably put injectors in it but we're wondering if there are any little tricks we could do in the meantime to boost power also if there is anything we should be watching out for the truck has 86000 miles and runs like a top

Welcome to the forum, TONS of info abounds.

Not many quick or easy little tricks on the computer controlled trucks. General consensus is that the HO trucks take to injectors better (as opposed to fuel box). A lot depends on how much power you want to make, but a great addition is the EDGE EZ or EDGE COMP fuel box. The COMP is an in cab adjustable box ( I LOVE MINE) which will be better if you plan to get into the 400 Hp with injectors, fuel system mods, clutch, turbo, etc...

Initially I borrowed an EZ box and noticed a nice difference in power and response, gets better with the Comp. Injectors are in the garage waiting...

No freebie ways to boost power on a 24V. On the 12Vs, you could slide the plate or fiddle with the AFC.



Anyway, there's only two ways to increase power on a 24V '02 and earlier: a "box" or "chip", or larger injectors.



There are injectors available from 40hp increase to 210hp increase.



Boxes come in two flavors: timing (up to 45-50hp) and fueling (120hp+). The fueling boxes are distinguished by the fact that they tap into the injection pump wiring, so they're called "wire-tap" boxes quite often.
