Fuel Pump A Control

Hello all. Bought my first diesel and a friend told me about this site. I was told that I could run home heating oil in my truck, any truth to this? What are the consequences of this? Thanks.

Yes you can use home heating oil (no. 2) in your truck. No. 2 fuel and no. 2 heating oil are the same thing only one has a color dye in it. The consequences could be that if you get caught doing that you could be busted and pay a stiff fine.

Welcome aboard Kevin. You'll love your new ride and TDR is not bad either, but only believe half of what you hear. Don't do the heating oil trick, not worth the consequences.

I would say that 80% of the people in my town who heat their homes with oil have diesel trucks or cars. Go figure. I've even seen the distributor filling a few vechicles.

Home Heating oil will be technically fine, if it s #2. #2 heating oil & #2 diesel are the same thing. There are a couple downsides. Home heating oil does not have to be nearly as clean as Our fuel- If the fuel is not as clean you may get some filter plugging issues. Also, Home heating oil & agriculture Diesel are both Dyed a Pink color. This is to denote it as fuel that has not had road tax payed on it. If a law enforcement officer checks your fuel, sees the pink color, you will be subjust to a fairly large fine. As a side note, if you do this, it will take several tanks of pump diesel to get that pink color out of your system. P.

I think most heating oil is #1, less oil for cleaner burn and since it is for winter time use, colder flow characteristics. If it was #2 it would gel when you needed it the worst :) Just buy it out of the pump and pay the tax, plus in the witer time it is pre mixed so it wont gel. Cummins does not recomend a steady diet of #1 fuel.
