Sold my 95, bought an 06, Going to the Cummins plant tour in June, Wondering what spares I should carry. Have just changed all fluids, synthetic in 48RE & rear axle. Replaced U joints with Spicer and balanced shaft. Do I need a spare lift pump or should I change to a Raptor? Water pump which one is best? Any other advice is welcome. Approx. 100K on truck. Planning on a oil by-pass filter, GDP or ?, also checking #4 Injector line.

I put 230k miles on an '06 with OEM injection pump, in-tank transfer pump, Geno's Fleetguard filters, and clean diesel fuel. The only problem I ever had was a tailshaft seal that slipped out of place in the 48RE and began dumping fluid out the tailshaft seal. None of that aftermarket equipment is needed to have a reliable strong running truck.

If you haven't already, change the coolant and drive belts also.

'06s and '07s with 48RE were exhaust brake compatible. You can install a Jacobs or Pacbrake. The ECM and PCM will communicate to activate the eb while downshifting the automatic and keeping the torque converter locked.

dont need anything, just some basic tools and a fuel filter... . if your going to carry spare parts, just buy a complete motor and put it in the back... . lol

dont need anything and the fuel pump is a downgrade from stock. when you get ready for better fuel filtering pm me and will email the how to for a total cost of about $80

I don't know if you tow with the "NEW" '06 but be careful and make sure your trailer lights are in good order BEFORE you plug it into the truck.
'06 was the first year for the "wonderful" TIPM module that controls all the truck lighting and trailer lights. You short it out then you are at the dealer for either a reset or a replace.

It might be too late now, but while the fluid was out of the transmission, I would suggest that you replaced the sensor and solenoid and adjusted the bands.

Use Fleetguard filters and carry a spare fuel filter (p/n FS19856 ) If you are going to change the water pump before you go it is Cummins p/n 2881805. Check the idler pulley ( the one at the top in middle ) p/n 4946708 . The # 4 inj line is p/n 5289447. The Dayco p/n for the belt is 5081260, unless you have Jake branded exhaust brake. You can get all these at Cummins Western Canada in Calgary ( 403-569-1122 ). You get top quality parts and their prices aren't that bad. Join the Power Booster Club and save 10%. See you in Columbus.
