new to the site with my first cummins

I got my 2008 Ram 2500 4x4 on 2/12/11 with 30,000 miles on it. New to Cummins diesels. Wife and I have a TDI but that's a little different animal than the RAM. I have pulled the intake baffle, I have a BADF exhaust from turbo to muffler and a MP-8 to install. Looking forward to learning a lot.

I haven't installed the MP-8 yet and I have yet to do the exhaust. I flip back and forth on installing the exhaust before the warranty ends. I am going to put in the TS MP-8 I just need to get an intake horn gasket. There is no room to remove the fuel rail nut to shim. I wanted to install something that can be removed easily if I have to. We'll see what else I get done this week, maybe by the end of the week. Kentucky.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you remove the exhaust system and do nothing with the two sensors in the DPF. The ECM will think the DPF is plugged and you will go into limp mode and inform you that the catalysis is full. You need to add a programmer to the truck's ECM such as a Smarty or like an H&S mini max, to keep it out of limp mode. These over wright the ECM program with a different program to resolve the emission delete issues. They do leave footprint in the ECM.

I believe the MP-8 is just a pressure box that can be stack with a Smarty or H&S components or stand alone, but you can not change the exhaust system with just the MP-8.
