Hello from Brentwood CA

New-to-me 2018 Ram 2500 CTD

Hello,
Last may i purchased a 2012 F-650 crew cab 5 ton box truck, with 80,000 miles on it, to haul our tools and equipment around on jobs. Its had a few issues, and everyone I've talked to seems clueless. But i do understand that my engine is different than the 6.7 that comes in Ram trucks, which makes me not sure what, if any, performance parts for a 6.7 will work with my engine.

First, it is sluggish. I understand that it is a commercial truck, and not meant to be peppy, but even when empty, it just doesn't seem to want to get up and go.
Apart from regular service, we've replaced the fuel filters, and the crankcase breather filter, and the mechanic now says it is perfect, but it still feels just as sluggish. Are there any performance mods for this engine that won't effect reliability? Or any standard issues that my mechanic might of overlooked?

Second, i live near Salt Lake City, and the truck runs up and down Parleys canyon to Park City almost daily. Its a streep grade. Heading down it can be a bit scary with a full load, and this truck has no engine or exhaust brake. Can anyone recommend a good onethat will work with my engine? I'm viewing this one as a safety issue and want to install something quality right away.

Thanks,
Ryan

On the dataplate of your engine should be a horsepower rating. I know there are products out there but the most economical way may be to have it programmed to a higher rating by a cummins dealer.
I am sure pacbrake would offer something for a Jake brake as well as some other companies. Not sure if the engine/ turbo can be programmed to work like on the pickups.
