Hi, I'm new to TDR and I don't have a CTD yet. I'm thinking about repowering my Ford with Cummins power but I would like to learn as much as I can about them before I drop the cash. From what I have learned so far I want a 2nd gen 12v with the P7100 pump. So for the first question, how do I tell if it is a P7100 pump?

First off, Welcome aboard.

All 2nd gen 12 valves well have the P-pump with different HP ratings. The P-pump is an inline pump, unlike the VE (1st gen) and VP (24valve) pumps which are rotary pumps. I'd suggest you try to find one with the 215 HP rating, which are in 97-98 year trucks.

The engine you are looking for has six small valve covers. The injection lines are in a row on top of the injection pump. Take a look at the "Where everything is" thread in the First Time Cummins Diesel Owners forum to see what it looks like.

Welcome,Thats a good swap you will be happy once its done i saw a 90,s ex cab 4x4 Ford at Ken imlers dyno day with one in it . It looked factory :) check out the conversions treads they will help you out. good luck Bkenny :D

O. k. how can I tell if it is a 215 HP rated pump. I know they came in manual trans non-cal trucks, but unfortanetly I'm in cal so it would help if I knew what to look for.

TIA

215 pump

check the engine plate on the same side as the pump, right on the pump gear cover. it should say the hp rating, and also check the cpl.
