I have a 94 2500HD 4X4, 5 speed. At 70 mph, I am running 2000 rpm and it sounds like I need to shift into another gear. At 85 mph the governor kicks in. I am not sure what my gear ratio is. What can I do to fix this problem.
I believe you have the 4:10 ratio I had a 94 1 ton 4X4 /w/ the 5-speed and it would really wind up on the interstate. It also topped out at about 90. The 96 that I have /w/ 3;54 ratio runs about 1800 r. p. m. at 60 m. p. h. and it's an auto. to boot, also 85 go's by pretty easy. unless someone has removed it there should be a sticker under your hood up by the grill with some paint info. on it and the gear ratio should be there also.
