I have a 2007 3500 CTD 4x4. I purchased a factory Uconnect to install in conjunction with the navigator radio.

The instructions that come with the kit are very sad. It's hard to make anything out and there's just about no written instructions.

So anyway, I have everything installed and tried it out... . nothing. I'm not sure I'm getting power to the uconnect.

The instructions show ( depending on your vehicle ) to cut a wire on the harness, tape it up and run a loose wire hanging from the harness to a feed ( cigarette lighter ).

This is where I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. Has anyone installed the factory kit on at least a 06 ?

I've tried the search engine but, really didn't find anything but, people having to make their own harness. Are there any threads or links anyone knows of that will help ?

Thanks

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you try to install the "Factory" system or the "dealer" system?

I have been trying to reasearch the true factory(through the mirror)system but have also been coming up short on wiring answers.

well, I just relized I'm installing the dealer kit and not the factory kit. i didn't know there were 2 versions, every Mopar site I've looked at has the same one I have

Luckily I got a great deal on the dealer kit so, it's not a big loss.

Now that i've read a bit about the factory kit... . I may go that route which would have been nice to do in the first place. :(

If you get any detailed info on the factory install please post. I really would rather have the factory install, but can not confirm 100%, if it is do'able or not. My research so far indicates that it is possible in other vehicles, so I would imagine it is for ours, but I have not found any detailed wiring info.

Right now it looks to me that if you install all the factory componets and make a harness to connect the mirror to the telematic module it should work.

I dunno? What do you think?

I have the factory kit (mirror, module, and Y wiring harness [just in case it was that way OEM]). I have yet to install it, but I can look at the boxes and bag for part #'s if anyone is interested. I don't see any reason why this should not be plug and play with the Nav radio.

First off - good luck with trying to install factory U-connect after the fact. Yeah, the searches you did probably came up with several guys who worked long and hard to do the same thing. Note that your truck is probably different, being a 2007 with the new bus - you may be breaking new ground. I have the factory Uconnect on my 05, and it is great, but there are other options now. I know you have that nice (wish I had one) new nav unit, but . . . Alpine, Sony, Pioneer (very nice), and possibly others all offer head units with built in bluetooth capability (not add on, and not that that's not as good - I think Panasonic has a kit like that). I haven't specifically been looking at their nav units, but some also have additional bluetooth capability like music streaming. If you are looking at installing a "dealer install" Uconnect, I would definitely at least consider aftermarket. Better head units, fully integrated operation just like "factory" Uconnect. Note all of these units work a little differently with different interfaces - research necessary.

If you would post those part numbers I would appreciate it. I am going to try the same thing when the $ allows. Did you buy all those parts from the dealer? I do not have the Nav radio, but the manual seems to indicate that the uconnect is offered for the 6-disk radio as well.

Also when you do install it a write up would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul,

I will certainly post the part numbers for you.

Perhaps this will motivate me to get hoppin on the install Oo.
