I've been checking this web site for months now, and thanks to you all, I just ordered an '04 3500 4x4 Laramie Q/C SB with the 6 speed, everything but the 4. 10's. This will be my first diesel, chose the Cummins over the PSD because of all the problems the Pherd seems to be having. Of course, I'll be looking to upgrade this rig right away, looking for some things to start off with such as exhaust (let me know what the good systems are) and the chips (I hear allot about the EZ). Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your new truck, as for exhaust, I just purchased a Hog Performance exhaust but haven't gotten it yet. I called them direct and got a great price for a 4 inch stainless steel system with a 6 inch tip, pretty close to the price of an aluminized system. Look up threads under the name y-knot for more information. After the exhaust, gauges should be next before modifying things. As you've already seen these boards are a wealth of information, feel free to ask if you have question, someone here can help. Welcome

Hello Bert and Holli,

Glade to have you aboard! does holli read on the site too? Just wondering, my wife pokes her head in now and again. Not too interrested, just seeing what is next to show up at the door I think. Nice choice on the Dodge, why not the 4:10's? And what will you be doing with the truck? Any plans ?

Welcome:D . I would drive this rig for a while before doing upgrades, you may find this truck has all the power you need. Mine suits me fine, bone stock.

y-knot, I will be towing a 10k 5er with the truck. I went with the 3. 73 because it's also my daily driver and am looking for a little better mileage. My first trip will be from the U. P of Michigan to Anchorage AK, pulling the 5er. That should help break it in real nice. Before I do that, I'll be sure and check all the fluid levels, especially the diffs. Holli will be poking around on here also, like your wife, just to see what I may be getting myself into. I'll probably take Dean Upson's advice and drive this truck for 10,000 or so, then make changes if I want. Thanks for the tips so far. By the way, got a great deal through Shoeder's in Rhinelander Wisconsin... 38,600 minus rebates. I'm pretty happy with that.
