Have just switched over from the 12 valve forum to the 3rd generation forum. Picked up my 2003 single cab truck Friday at 11:00 AM, it now has over 1100 miles on it. I run oilfield hotshot so the miles will add up in a hurry. My last truck had 419,644 miles on it when I sold it. Haven't noticed any other people who put a lot of miles quickly on their trucks in the 3 G forum. My truck is a single cab, silver SLT, HO/6 speed with a flatbed on it. I pull a 35 ft. gooseneck,7000 lbs. empty. Normal towing wt. will run about 15 to 18,000 lbs. This truck will get a workout, if anything is going to be weak on them I'll probably find out. My last truck was a 95 clubcab with a little extra hp and a DTT transmission for the last 70,000 miles or so. I run nothing but Amsoil, and will do the same on this one as soon as I get it broke in. Will be cking in from time to time, am now trying to figure out where to mount the cb radio. Any thoughts on that?

Congrats on the new truck. I just got one too, a White SLT 4x4 Quadcab HO six speed. Traded a 97 club cab with 273,000 for it. Love the new truck, kind of miss that diesel rattle from the engine, but then again its nice on a long ride not having all that noise. Not really any good spots to mount anything in this truck. I need to mount a cb and a vhf radio. I think I am going to go with an overhead shelf with mine. There is a two piece shelf made by pace edwards (www.pace-edwards.com/vshelfit.asp) that looks nice. Don't know if they have it for the new 03's yet, will have to call them and check it out.

Welcome, EB!

There's a couple of threads a few pages back on CB mounting. I decided to just go with the handset-remote CB on mine and hide the box under the shift console like shown in one of the threads. O/H shelf sounds like a good idea, too, especially for a work truck. Anyway, check it out.

Enjoy the new ride!

EB, Welcome to the third gen forum's. Please let us know what your impression's are of your new rig. I think it's safe to say that you'll be working your truck harder in a week than most of us will in two years so it shouldn't take you long to know how well these trucks will hold up.

Also, I'm sure you have been surfing this forum for a while and know this already but I will say it anyway. CHECK YOUR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID!

cb mount from rip and bob

eb,

the bgbw cb mount for the 03 will be ready soon. formerly known as the mike brolin cb mount, rip rook and bob wagner have taken over the manufacturing of these cb mounts. goes in front of the center seat bolting to brackets underneath. pretty dang good system for the sturdy mounting of the cb.

im anxiously awaiting my BGBW CB MOUNT. nice name for the mount rip.

heres rips # 866 211-1533 503 654-9004

EB,

Congrats on the new truck! I noticed you were in South Texas, AND in the oilfield. I don't hotshot, but my Dad and I have a little pressure testing business. We work mainly for Chevron right now.

Hope your truck treats you right. .

If you need anything, give me a call. :D

Congratulations on your new truck. I had a brother in law that used to work oilfield hotshot and rode with him a few times. Those trucks will get a workout and the miles do roll up fast. Can't help you with the cb I haven't had one since 95 when I wrecked truck and put an end to the cb. Had it mounted under the dash but my knee knocked it off in wreck and has no been the same since:D
