HI EVERYONE. I AM NEW TO THE WEBSITE(STILL LEARNING) BUT HAVE BEEN A TDR MEMBER SINCE OCT 96. I HAVE LEARNED A GREAT DEAL FROM ALL OF YOU THRU THE MAGAZINE. I HAVE INSTALLED MANY UPGRADES AND HAVE SOLVED A FEW PROBLEMS.
MORE ON ALL OF THAT ANOTHER TIME. I HAVE ONE
QUESTION RIGHT NOW I HOPE SOMEBODY CAN ANSWER. I HAVE AN AUTO TRANS AND I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS A WAY TO REVERSE THE OPERATION OF THE OVERDRIVE SWITCH? WHAT I MEAN IS, WHEN I TURN ON THE MOTOR, I WANT THE OD SWITCH TO BE IN THE OFF MODE INSTEAD OF THE ON MODE. I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND DON'T HAVE THE NEED TO RUN WITH THE TRANS IN OVERDRIVE ALL THE TIME. IS THERE A WAY TO DO THIS BY SWITCHING SOME WIRES IN BACK OF THE SWITCH OR SOMEWHERE ELSE? THANKS FOR THE HELP.

Welcome aboard, and enjoy your stay. I have pondered the very same question as you posed. However I haven't exploreed the option yet.

Have you tried looking it up in a "Search" through the old posts? Just a thought.

there is a way to do it , but i'm not sure how , i know that you can accomplish it with a BD autolok , but since i don't need that unit i haven't bother , yet it would be nice , but i know a guy that will know the answer , maybe he will see this ...

Yeah, the BD autolock and torquelock to it but I junked my torquelock. I asked my dealer and they said they can't do it. It's funny though because when I first got the truck I thought I read in the owners manual it could be set either way. I will have to do some reading, I guess.

TST has a diagram on their website of how to hook up the switch to lock the converter. Basically by making contact to ground with the right wire, it locks it up.
Instead of connecting a wire to the right lead for the lockup, why not just use a couple of wires and reroute the circuit through a toggle switch. You could have two switches mounted next to eachother, one to lock and one to unlock, wouldn't be that hard.
I've often thought of doing it myself. Sometimes I'd like to run in 4th gear without having the converter lock up, like when the roads are slick. Maybe I'll just give it a try. To check out TST's diagram go to http://www.tstproducts.com/ and look under transmission kits. Good Luck!
