Its a ABENE Universal Vertical/Horiontal mill. Made, I think some time in the mid 50's. Gear driven head, 12 speed, 240V 3phase. The head rotates infinately between horiontal and vertical 90 degrees. The head unit also slides forward for more reach.

My wife is the manufacturing engineer, so she'll show me how to run it

With a 25 hp CNC rotatory phase converter. Friend had it on his lathe but found out it was too small, so I bought it from him.

This model mill has a 5 hp motor to run the head and a 2 hp motor to run the feed. Also orginaly had a coolent set up but that disapeared long ago.

I'm ashamed to say how much it cost, but our bid was onehundred dollors and no one else bid on it. It was an SME auction by the local chapter, 67 in Phoenix. The money goes toward scholarship to ASU and community college student in a manufacturing carees. Now the kicker was that with the winning bid we got free delivery by a local rigging company. They used a small forklift and we scooted the machine over the concreat. We think it weights just under 2000 lbs. And for the final kick, there were 2 of these ABENE mills and the other one went for the same price. If I had know what these mills were at the time I would have bid for the other one. We had no clue what were buying other than it was a hortizonal mill.
